Hello, I'm Jayenkai, and in 5 days time, I'll be adding the 300th game into my Archive.
300 games that I've single handedly created over the course of the past decade.
Today, I received the following email.

@Madgarden's wonderful little retro shooter has finally been released to iOS, this week, so that's getting the Weekend Retreat treatment!
It makes quite a change from AGameAWeek's fast pacing and insane difficulty levels, as you leisurely float from side to side, gently blasting away at the bad guys!

The BoopyBots return, to dance in this week's teensy little game.
Yes, it's a quickly cobbled together game, and it isn't all that big, or clever.
What can I say, I've been doing a lot of background stuff!! Crazy times ahead.

18th July 2013
I don't give up, very often, but on this occasion, it's unfortunately going to happen to my big Month-Long project.
I seem to have narrowed the problem down to the following issue.
... Wasn't hard enough!
It seems that, nowadays, I can only tackle a project if it's got enough of a challenge attached.

<img src="https://socoder.net/AGAWGold_128.png" style="float:right;"> In yet another example of AGameAWeek Gold plucking out examples of games I'm currently reworking, here's a great little blast from the past!
AGameAWeek Gold is our occasional dip into the pool of previously released games, taking a look at what I've previously released on this day in history.

Over the course of July, I'll be working on a nice new edition of RetroRaider.
It currently looks a lot like the old versions, but I'm hoping to tweak things quite a bit, this time around.
No idea how well this'll turn out, but .. It oughta be good!
So, in honor of July being RetroRaider month, here's a nice new RetroRaider Desktop.

As we head into July, I've decided to dig my heels in, and aim for another bigger project.
Much like April's "Stringy Things" month, this will probably take over the usual AGameAWeek schedule, resulting in a smaller number of releases over the course of the month.
.. hopefully, it doesn't run into a dead end, like Stringy Things did!
For this project, I'll be using TWO languages.

It's like playing around with a time machine, but without the risk of destroying the entire universe, simply because you happened to sneeze near a butterfly, or something!
Today, we find two great classics.

Although I am sort of planning things ahead of time, I'm not really doing a good job with the things I'm planning.
In the majority of cases, the better AGameAWeek games seem to be those spur of the moment games that I cobble together fairly quickly.
Anything over-planned seems to die a death, halfway through!
At the start of May, I planned to do two fairly large projects.

For the most part, there's some real stinkers in amongst this lot.
But every so often, we'll come across a real gem.

SpikeDislike2 has just had a nice big update on the iOS AppStore, and I'm now thinking about what to add next, so I figured I'd make a nice rambling blog about it.
That's what this is!!
You can buy (URL "https://itunes.apple.com/app/id604867277">SpikeDislike2 in the AppStore)! It's nice and cheap, and full of lovely juicy stuff!

To celebrate this random decision, here's...

A Brief'ish History of Sheep Goes Left

After SpikeDislike was released, one of the AppStore reviewers complained that there's no way to save your progress, and that the infinitely continuing level was an issue because there are no checkpoints, and no ending.

Last week, one of my quickly cobbled together test tunes for JMTrackr was the old Manic Miner ingame music. If you download JMtrackr, you'll find it in the Retro folder.
I created it quickly, made a little mp3 of it in random mode, and plopped it up on Socoder.
People seemed to fall in love with the idea of me making a Manic Miner clone, and over the course of the past few days, that's escalated somewhat..
People really seem to want me to make a Manic Miner type thing.

Alrighty, time to buckle down and get a new collection started.
It's actually been quite a while since I last did something like this, but 2010's Advent Collection kinda counts.
The idea is simple. I write tiny versions of bigger games, keep them as short and sweet (and playable!) as possible, and cram them all together into a nice little bundle.

Last night I was asked how I got Monkey to do all the things that I managed to make it do.
I tried to describe it as best as I could, but was already wrapped up in bed, trying to remember it all, whilst only holding an iPad! Not an easy job.
I suggested to (URL "https://twitter.com/retrorusty">@RetroRusty) that he waits until the morning, when I can better write a nice big (BIG) waffling (WAFFLING!) blog-post about it all.

So, here we go again.
We're up to Year 5, and hopefully we'll get a full year out of it, this year (nnngh).
With Monkey, we get a chance to go back over our previous games, and remake them for a new audience, with iOS, Android and Browser based versions. I expect this will prove to be an exciting year.
Given that we can play at showing off, what games do you think would work best, and adapt well to the new touchy/mouse based gameplay options?
Or, what games could prove to be an obsc...
