Yesterday I suggested that AL's Choons were getting a little repetitive, and needed something new to freshen them up.
As such, rather than focusing on coding, I took some time ou...

Only about a day and half to get this week's game finished, but it's barely even started.
I keep messing about with other little side-projects, and can barely focus on the main task.

Each month I receive the wonderful Arcade Block from (URL "https://NerdBlock.com">NerdBlock.com)
When you initially sign up, you give them a T-Shirt size, and every month you get a lovely Arcade related TShirt, along with a box full of odd pieces of tat.
Some of the tat is garbage, some of the tat looks nice on a shelf, and occasionally some of the tat is pure awesomeage!

Oh dear.. I only managed about half-a-game yesterday. It started off well, but as I needed more and more art assets, I kinda got lazy, drifted off, and then started playing Words With Friends instead of drawing sprites.
Whoops!
That's not helping the limited schedule, much.

Well, @Jayenkai , I've always supported you in the past. And I warned you focusing on piracy would turn you into something untenable.
Point one : I'm NOT focussed on the "Piracy"
I'm focussed on the twat that took my game, and uploaded it to Amazon, then tried to make a profit from it.
That, to me, is a million times worse than anyone who simply finds the game online and downloads it.
That's not just taking something, that's taking something then trying to profit from someon...

Not a whole lot of news from yesterday, but that was mostly due to me not being in a coding mood.
Instead, I did at least manage to create the following ALChoon.

Yesterday was spent fixing up little things in SpikeDislike3.
I got Predetermined Layouts working, but still haven't bothered to implement any sort of collision detection!
Still, you can now start a round, have it spawn the spikes in the same place, and then exit back to the menu.
Having the spikes show up in the same place, is of course super important in SpikeDislike, as you learn the layouts of the level, and try not to die for ages and ages. I'll have to a...

Last week saw the two year anniversary of (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/2012/08/home-again-home-again-jiggity-jig/">this post), where I waffled and rambled on about my health condition. Mum suggested it was about time to write an update, so this is that!
Two years on, and although I'm marginally better, I'm still somewhat stuck in a fairly similar position.

.. Sorry, I haven't suddenly added them.
Instead, I've made this post in the hopes of starting a discussion on the feasibility of adding scoreboards to future AGameAWeek titles.
It's something I've attempted in the past, and old versions of Microbes, Spider and others still kind-of, mostly, sort of work.
But there's a few issues that are stopping me from integrating it into the current framework.

Just because I'm taking September off from my regular AGameAWeek schedule, doesn't mean there won't be fun times ahead! I've decided to keep you entertained with a few oddities that have collected on my hard drive for the past decade or so, but have mostly been unpublished due to being "a bit shit", or me having lost their sourcecode.
These are games that I've always considered to be part of my archive, but for various reasons I've never actually bothered to add to the thing.
Games that I occas...

<img src="https://socoder.net/AGAWGold_128.png" style="float:right;">AGameAWeek Gold takes a peek back through the masses of the Jayenkai Archive, to see if I've released anything of importance on this day in history.
Today's game might not exactly have been released on this day in history, as it actually went through a series of three or four separate releases.. I'll have to trawl through the various forum posts to be sure.. But today's the day that I've marked, so I'm pretty sure it had some ...

What's with the track?

BlastTrax was originally devised as a classic Retro-styled GrandPrix-like racing game, with weapons.
You would drive through the course, shoot the other drivers, and make your way through to the end.

Hello, I'm Jayenkai, and in 5 days time, I'll be adding the 300th game into my Archive.
300 games that I've single handedly created over the course of the past decade.
Today, I received the following email.

<img src="https://socoder.net/AGAWGold_256.png" style="float:right;">As we continue through our adventures of old crappy games, we'll occasionally trip over the odd one or two that wasn't even part of AGameAWeek.
In fact, today's game-from-the-archive outdates AGameAWeek by a good few years.
Good grief, this game's actually nine years old!
*tests the game*
And it still works!

<img src="https://socoder.net/AGAWGold_256.png" style="float:right;">Before I'd decided on the "Blockman Gets" mechanic, I tried many a different thing with him.
First, there was the Platform engine, where he had to run around and gather up the tiny blocklets. That worked nicely!
After that I tried a "Pengo" approach, but he didn't seem happy pushing things around, so that never actually got uploaded anywhere.
After that, I decided to go old-skool, and made a bog standard Pacman clo...

As we continue our trip down memory lane, I'm starting to head off into odd new directions.
This week, I'm remaking a game that I made for DS, but never got around to doing a proper fully fledged Windows edition of.
Obviously, though, a game full of Sprite-Rips isn't going to cut it in Apple's AppStore. .. Actually, given how fucking often those things somehow manage to get approved, I probably could, but let's not chance it!
Instead of ripping old sprites from Arcade ...
