Playing with Pixels
Blog

DevelopmentsPixel-based collision detection is all but impossible with Monkey-X, due to the simple issues of rotation and scaling, along with more complicated screen resolution and orientation complications, and then the complete lack of 100% accuracy when it comes to drawing to buffers. (Although that last one is mostly down to Android, which likes to dither any and all images when the screen doesn't quite have full colour available.) Views 106, Upvotes 34

I've spent most of today finishing off some nice SoCoder bits and pieces. Theme, Newsletter, tweaks here and there.
Basically, I haven't even looked at Poor Mr Sheriff, and he's largely being ignored. I think my heart's left that project. .. In fact, if I'm honest, that probably happened a few days ago. It's a project abandoned. Views 5, Upvotes 1

Last week, I set out to make an arcade-based "Tower Defence" type of game. Initially the plan was going smoothly. You could drag the little turrets around, plant extra turrets, and then start an "Attack". At that point, you shot the enemies and gathered up the coins. DevelopmentsYesterday I spent a good couple of hours recreating the classic Codemasters title "3D Starfighter" before realising "This game's shit!!" The game was abandoned where it was, but I've left the code in the Arcade Calendar, so I might sneak it in as a bonus game, or something.. *shrugs* It's not a "bad" game, it's just really really dull!!! DevelopmentsYesterday I loaded up JMTrackr for the first time in .. a LONG time! I spent most of the day creating a new set of instruments for the engine, and ensuring everything still sounded .."Not awful" After that, I fiddled with the engine a bit, and am now midway through trying to figure out a way to auto-generate Monkey-Code which includes a multitude of different choons, all in one neat little bundle. Well, @Jayenkai , I've always supported you in the past. And I warned you focusing on piracy would turn you into something untenable.
Point one : I'm NOT focussed on the "Piracy" I'm focussed on the twat that took my game, and uploaded it to Amazon, then tried to make a profit from it. That, to me, is a million times worse than anyone who simply finds the game online and downloads it. That's not just taking something, that's taking something then trying to profit from someon... Another big gap, as I try to figure out what's happening next. I figured you guys oughta be kept up to date with current goings on, in the world of AGameAWeek, so here's a rough bit of blogging so that you can vaguely assume you know what's going on!
Current projects are.. 1. Kee Bo Ard Go Deep Another sequel in the Kee Bo Ard collection. I've so far built a fairly capable engine, but am struggling to decide exactly what I'd like to do with it. I've got the game up to a "You can complet... Views 18, Upvotes 2

Welcome to Xmas 2004, when I released an early test version of Platdude Spheres!
The game's basic idea was sound, but the gameplay never quite fit the idea, and it doesn't exactly "feel" like Platdude, either. As such, the game was pretty much abandoned at the stage you currently see it.
