Some of the tat is garbage, some of the tat looks nice on a shelf, and occasionally some of the tat is pure awesomeage!

Beta Collexion was my Advent Calendar of Games for 2015. 26 wonderfully playable little games, all wrapped in a lovely giftwrapped bundle.

Yesterday I spent a good couple of hours recreating the classic Codemasters title "3D Starfighter" before realising "This game's shit!!"
The game was abandoned where it was, but I've left the code in the Arcade Calendar, so I might sneak it in as a bonus game, or something.. *shrugs*
It's not a "bad" game, it's just really really dull!!!

I spent some time thinking about hats, yesterday, and trying to find the best way to illustrate the lifespan of the hats.
Annoyingly, they're all slightly different.
Shields have hit-points, Speedups have timers, Weapons have ammo.

The next edition of SpikeDislike3 will come with 5 brand new themes, each with a unique playstyle.
In much the same way that SpikeDislike2 had it's Barry the Bee and Sheep Goes Right themes, this one will include a batch of themes that all mess about with the controls, and do things a little differently.

Yesterday, I completely rejigged the "Bounce" of SpikeDislike.
Originally, the bounce was a simple Sine-wave, and has in fact been this in EVERY version of SpikeDislike, but this time I'm hoping to add a couple of new elements which have required a minor tweak in the usual ball bouncing mechanic.
This isn't something to be taken lightly, as I had to be absolutely sure that the end result still "felt" like Classic SpikeDislike.

Yesterday I did a few odd little bits and pieces. I got "bombs" to work in the new engine, and managed to get a feel for the game. So far, so good. I think!
