September is nearly over, and I've played a good six or seven hours of GTAV. Hmm.. Anyhoo, I've been working away at BlastTrax and have done quite a fair amount of work on the thing. I should be uploading the new edition to Apple in the next couple of days, (I have to faff about updating my MacMini first, though) so watch out for that appearing on your iPhing in the next week or so. After that it's time to get back into the AGameAWeek swing of things, and I'm tempted to do another slightly larger pr...

In yet another example of AGameAWeek Gold plucking out examples of games I'm currently reworking, here's a great little blast from the past! AGameAWeek Gold is our occasional dip into the pool of previously released games, taking a look at what I've previously released on this day in history.

1I had planned to make a semi-sequel to NeonPlat, this week. I'm not really sure why that didn't happen! Instead, we have a nice swimming floating game, which is in no way inspired by the diving in Animal Crossing.. ... AT ALL!!!!

I wanted to have made a nice big super-sized sequel, this week, but I got sidetracked. For starters, I played a lot of Animal Crossing, so there's that!! But that wasn't all, as this week's game took an alarming amount of time to settle into a groove. AGameAWeek Gold looks back on this day in history, and trawls through the Jayenkai Archive to see if I've previously released any interesting games, today, in the past. It's like playing around with a time machine, but without the risk of destroying the entire universe, simply because you happened to sneeze near a butterfly, or something! Today, we find two great classics.

Another week, another sequel. This week, we're revisiting the puzzle-maze world of Kee, Bo and Ard (Occasionally spelled "Key, Bo and Ard" due to me forgetting the spelling of the green character's name!) I also need a couple of features tested, so there's quite a bit of rambling included below this post!

Although I am sort of planning things ahead of time, I'm not really doing a good job with the things I'm planning. In the majority of cases, the better AGameAWeek games seem to be those spur of the moment games that I cobble together fairly quickly. Anything over-planned seems to die a death, halfway through! At the start of May, I planned to do two fairly large projects. Both of those projects have remained untouched for at least a couple of weeks. Whoops!

A Brief'ish History of Sheep Goes Left

After SpikeDislike was released, one of the AppStore reviewers complained that there's no way to save your progress, and that the infinitely continuing level was an issue because there are no checkpoints, and no ending. .. Well, yeah...

Get used to seeing this, as you're going to see a lot of it. The other day I asked for opinions on what April might bring. Three people chipped up. One was over at Curly's World of Freeware, where Tormuse suggested I should go with the Word Games. Second, @moshboy suggested I should go with an unplanned stream of oddities. Oooh, a Tie!! Third was the deciding vote. And worryingly it didn't even come from the internet. Instead, My Mum suggested I should carry on doing Stringy Things....

Sometimes, stripping things back to their simplest mechanics makes for a strangely more interesting game. Other times, however, it just makes an otherwise vaguely interesting game a little more dull. This is a great example of the latter.

AppStore is a wonderful place. For the first time, I've actually made some money out of my games!! Well done, Apple, on creating a wonderful ecosystem for indie devs. ... But there are niggling issues.. The number one issue is that I can't reply when I really REALLY want to. What follows is a reply..

Oh my god!!! Are you kidding me?! Hey, Nintendo, take a look at the title of this website. Guess what I'm doing.. Single-handedly, too, I might add. You're a company. You're a BIG company. Why in the name of hell does it take you SEVEN MONTHS to bring Animal Crossing 3DS to Europe? Japan : November 8, 2012 Europe : June 14, 2013 That can't be right!?! It just CAN'T be! There's no way it would take you that long to translate it all. You've got TEAMS who specialise in that sort of thing....

So, here we go again. We're up to Year 5, and hopefully we'll get a full year out of it, this year (nnngh). With Monkey, we get a chance to go back over our previous games, and remake them for a new audience, with iOS, Android and Browser based versions. I expect this will prove to be an exciting year. Given that we can play at showing off, what games do you think would work best, and adapt well to the new touchy/mouse based gameplay options? Or, what games could prove to be an obscure tricky challen...

It's been over a year since the Platdude Retro Advent Collection had a bizarre game with a ball and some spikes in it, and as much as I've attempted to get on with other games, that one little game keeps on getting dragged back out again! Last week, SpikeDislike won an IndieVisibility award, for being the best game to have with you on the toilet! (Apologies, it's a bit "half-asleep/randomly ranty/jumping through topics/freeflow" today!!) As an iDev guy, I get 50 codes per Update for all my games. I can hand these out to reviewers or folk I know. Handy. So, off they go, sent out, willy nilly, to all the reviewers/people I can find, and see where it takes me.

A demo!!?!?!!?!?! With all the freeware that's on here, the years of making freeware, and the fact that I've only ever made games for the fun of making the games, it's pretty damn unthinkable that one of my games might actually be a demo! But that's how it's going to be for this one. I like this game. I like it a lot! Last month, this started as a simple remake of a shitty little spike dodging game. A quicky, or so I thought, to slap onto the AppStore as a semi-sequel to Spik...

The year is new, but the logo's old. Sod it. I love this logo! I should be doing a year-long roundup thing, but I've not had much time, what with the whole Advent and stuff. No matter, there's been some good, and plenty of bad, and that's what AGameAWeek's all about!

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going. Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up. If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up. Anyhoo, this is a nice big lengthy re...

I'd love to get a game done, but finishing the music thing, and sorting out the last bits of the Framework ready for first release? Well, that's going to take some time. And with only 2 days to get it all done. .. eek! So, instead, we'll try something a little different, this week. First off, I'm fixing up Box's Adventure a little. There are some ideas jotted down, and a few thoughts over at RetroRemakes, so I really feel like the game could expand exponentially. It won't be a sequel, more ... ...
