I struggled to get anything new started, today..
I'm not 100% sure why that is. Perhaps I woke up too early, or maybe it's that "End of Project" exhaustion, who knows.
I think it's the first time this year, that I've hit that particular wall, and as a result I pretty much just sat about playing games all day, and not actually achieving a damned thing.

AGameAWeek Year 4
Blog
15th December 2011
Before starting development on NeonPlat Adventures, I took great care to test all the alternatives.
I'd read online about OSX Lion breaking Blitz, and people needing to fuck about with lots of settings and things.
The scary part was that developing on Lion would probably break compatibility with Snow Leopard.
As such, I made a few test engines, and got people with Lion to test my games, to be 100% sure that, if I stuck with Snow Leopard, my games would be 100% compatible with BOTH sets of users.

A lot of elements are currently coming together, and things are getting a little more chaotic than I'd like them to be around Xmas time.
If the past 2 years of Xmas themed chaos (12 games of Xmas, Advent Collection) have taught me one thing, it's not to EVER plan anything around Xmas!
Presents, family visits and the general filling of my face with Xmas cake, will usually get in the way of the coding time, and as such I decided not to push myself into anything moronic this year.
I apologise if you're deep...

6th December 2011
ugh..
I need to make a calendar for the iOS edition.
The Win/Lin/Mac (WiLMa) edition is also a bit screwy, so we'll add "New Calendar" to the 2nd releases todo list.
Might as well see if I can code 2 things at once, then, and rework the calendars at the same time.

The 3 Week Panic!
Blog
24th October 2011
This is the plan.
Week 1
This Friday I'm launching Beta2, so I have until Friday to add an alarming number of things.
I thought I was on track, but then realised I needed...
1. All the hats!
2. All the badges.
3. A couple of bits of music.
4. Scoring methods
This Beta will hopefully be, for the most part, the fully complete game.
Any extras after this point should be neatness-tweaks, and nothing major, but.. well.. things always get in the way!!

More Baddies
Blog
21st October 2011
5 more, today! woot! That's 42 little animated characters I've popped into the game, now! (43 if you count NeonPlat!)
50?
Looking entirely possible at this point!
And I've done 8 backgrounds, now, too, so we'll probably want another 2 of those.
I'll be honest.. Background #8 was kinda lazily cobbled together, but it works!
I'll leave you with a nice desktop for today.
This one's from Background #2, which I like to call "Square Pixels", but which doesn't real...

Over a year and a half ago, I made a Music Framework thing to go in my BlitzMax framework.
It achieved a fairly modest passable amount of music, and was used in both JNKPlat2010 and NeonPlat2.
I stick in a few melodies, it goes twiddle-dee-dee, and out pops a bunch of pseudo random music.

Another day, and still lots of back-n-forth on NeonPlat decisions.
There's a lot of gameplay emerging, and it'll be fun trying to pull it all off.
Even without a working editor, and still having everything be pseudo random, things are playable, enemy are spawning, and NeonPlat keeps enjoying himself!

Slow Down......
Blog
19th September 2011
Much as I expected, the initial burst of NeonPlat Adventure building, has now dropped to a stupidly slow rate.
I'm currently flicking through all the possibilities for standard baddies, and super-evil-mega-boss baddies.
Will the boss baddies be entirely seperate entities?
Or will they, like previous NeonPlat games, be the same baddies, but megasized!?
And what enemy types will work!?
I've already cut out the unpopular "squishy" baddy.
People didn't like him, because he wasn't catchab...

Instead, I've been working on Sheep Goes Left DS, which is proving 17,000,000,000% more popular than it's iOS rival.
Quite why, I don't know, but the fact that it's being mentioned quite a bit is a good sign.

Tweakyday

3rd August 2011
Spent some time today doing a bunch of little tweaky things.
First off, late last night, I started on reformatting SpikeDislike's GameCenter code, to make it a bit more universal, and easy to plop into other games.
Took about an hour to get everything working nicely, integrated into Daisy Chains, and get the highscores up and running.
woot!

Yesterday I suggested that Adverts were evil.
If an advert pops up in my game, I tend to get a bit pissed off about it.
Today, my whole game is an advert.
But it's done in a "Well at least you can play the damn thing, and it's not just sitting shoved into your face while it drains your battery.." way.

Template 2 honestly isn't that much different than Template 1 was.
In fact, if I wasn't writing this blog, I'm not 100% sure that anyone would notice that much.

Apple's Fault..

12th July 2011
I woke up bright and early, planning to get a whole load done on my DaisyChains game, today.
I started the day by installing iOS5 v3. This was a bad idea.
It took me about 2 hours to get everything installed, reinstall XCode, get the new iOS5v3 iPod and Xcode working together, and then wait for all the apps to pop back onto the iPod.
