Back at school I used to randomly write thoughts into my jotter. Not school-based stuff, of course. I was an idea-filled coder, back then!
Lately, the ideas are few and far between, as anyone who's been following AGameAWeek lately has noticed.
My "Waffle" was general thoughts about gui layouts, game thoughts, and then anything else that randomly appeared along the way.
I'm starting to think that it might be a good idea to restart that old habit.

Yesterday, Rob from RetroRemakes asked if he could do a spritesheet for Spike Dislike.
After a lot of back and forth, I decided to write a how-to, so any future requests could go a little bit smoother!
Here's some info on how to make 'em, alongside a bunch of all-important rules.

A nice slow paced shooter this week.
Poor old CPC Basic couldn't really handle bullet-hell type games.
Well, ok, maybe it could if you really really tried, and came up with a scrolling ascii grid of bullets, but for the most part it just wasn't happening.
Instead, Cassette 50 creators had to rely on other ideas. Like trying to kill you with your own desire to kill!!

Why is it always the little random games with a dire lack of content that become the most popular ones?!
Lesson Learned : I oughta stop trying so hard, and just knock out the simple little games!
I was thinking this whilst doing the Advent collection. Some of those were really playable, and I had a whole lot of fun whilst making them.

Hmm.. I forgot to post a "This Week", and a "Suggestion Box", this week, didn't I.
One little tweak to my weekly schedule, and the whole thing goes to pot!
Today's Tuesday, and I won't (again) be posting AGameAWeek, and I'll be forwarding any complaints straight to my spam bin! 21 games, some of which are much more playable than recent AGameAWeek games, all done within the past few weeks. I think that's more than enough to stop you whinging about a lack of AGameAWeek.

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going.
Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up.
If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better
The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up.

Cracking game, this week!
What started out as an unknown game, quickly became fantastically playable. A remake of the little WarioWare UFO Spike thing that I made last week, only with more spike things than is probably sane!
In the end, the game's turned out quite a lot like a Geometry Wars clone. I wasn't expecting that, but there it is!

Over at Socoder I've stopped doing Wednesday Workshop, which has spawned a heck of a lot of sideprojects in it's time.. In fact, in all honesty, Socoder wouldn't exist without it. And.. realistically, this site probably wouldn't either.
Still, WW's had it's time, and everyone got bored with it.
"Wednesday Worklogs" has now started, where everyone plonks down a nice big lengthy list of things they've done over the week.
