Last night I sat and wrote a vague tutorial'ish thing for SmileBASIC.
I took the idea of what I did with the Banana Dodging thing, and tried to make an entire game of Pong/Tennis within the space of a single screenshot-able screen of text.

A decade is over, and what have I done?
373 games, created a new blogging script for here, rewritten the Socoder forum, started a few new sites and more!
Oh, and a brain tumour!

Hey there! Could I have the source code for this?
The name of this site should give you some idea as to how difficult Centipong is to create from scratch.
But just in case, allow me to plot you some points to help guide you along the way.

Petit Switch is mostly faultless, but there's one slight quirk that tripped me up, yesterday.
When you save your code, you hit Ctrl+S, then it flashes up "Are you sure you want to save 'Project/main.prg'?" and then you hit OK, and it says "Are you REALLY sure you want to save 'Project/main.prg?'", and then you hit OK and then it saves.

Don't think of this as Pong.
It isn't Pong.
It's NOT Pong!
If you've a Switch, and have downloaded SmileBASIC, you can grab a copy of the game using the Public Key...

1. Not Pong is going to be my game for Petit Switch, this week.

2. Dots and Squares will be this week's Shoebox game.

First puzzle game of 2018. If it was not so insanely difficult it will be higher up in the list.

The New Unnamed Centipong game is feeling much better, now, with the addition of all the important audio as well as properly functioning levels.

Minor tweaks to the still untitled New Centipong, but nothing too interesting to bother to mention.
Mostly yesterday was a sidetracked day..

Yesterday, New Unnamed Centipong started to fall into place.
I'm not sure exactly what it was that did it. Maybe the addition of levels, or properly formulating the life system, but something suddenly clicked and things started to feel a lot more gamey.

Centipong isn't coming together very well.

Saturday came and went, and I was supposed to spend Sunday getting back to coding Centipong again, but that didn't happen.
Instead, I spent some more time looking into the possibility of bundling Future AGameAWeek games together into a single .exe

I took the day off from coding, yesterday. Ten years is more than enough.
I opted instead to just sit around and watch as Twitter went crazy with "AGameAWeek 10" Tweets.

In order to do a new Centipong justice, I need to add nice level transitions, mushroom popping, and other nice stuff. It could probably do with a number of ALChoons, too, to keep it lively.
As such, and given what day it is, tomorrow, I've decided to hold off on the game until next week, so I have ample time to do the game justice.
Hopefully you don't mind.

Struggling to find a good speed for the game, at the minute.
For me, I'm so used to Centipong that I can play it at a fairly fast speed, but I know newcomers won't be so happy about that.
I think, then, that the usual Easy/Normal/Hard might instead be Calm/Collected/Chaos, or something like that...
But, yeah, basics seem to be working well enough, and it's nice and fast on 3DS, too.
