Yesterday, New Unnamed Centipong started to fall into place. I'm not sure exactly what it was that did it. Maybe the addition of levels, or properly formulating the life system, but something suddenly clicked and things started to feel a lot more gamey.

In order to do a new Centipong justice, I need to add nice level transitions, mushroom popping, and other nice stuff. It could probably do with a number of ALChoons, too, to keep it lively. As such, and given what day it is, tomorrow, I've decided to hold off on the game until next week, so I have ample time to do the game justice. Hopefully you don't mind.

Struggling to find a good speed for the game, at the minute. For me, I'm so used to Centipong that I can play it at a fairly fast speed, but I know newcomers won't be so happy about that. I think, then, that the usual Easy/Normal/Hard might instead be Calm/Collected/Chaos, or something like that... But, yeah, basics seem to be working well enough, and it's nice and fast on 3DS, too.

Generic Snake Clone is almost complete. A couple of tweaks, some screenshots, a bit of double-checking of a few things, then final compiles and I'll probably start doing the uploads.. It should be ready later today, but if not, assume I gave up when I had to try compiling the Mac version!!

Not a huge amount of progress on the Snake game, since yesterday, or at least nothing major. Today I need to start thinking about adding audio into the game. Blips and Bleeps would appear to be the most logical way to go, so I'll be using bsfxr as I usually tend to do.

It's been a long long time since I did a bog standard Snake clone, and yesterday's code session reminded me of just how utterly simplistic a snake clone can be. Today I'll be making the tail follow the player, as it currently doesn't clear out as it goes, making things much harder for the player. Once that works, I'll be adding more tail-pieces as the player eats more, and then coming up with a soundtrack that matches the presentation of the game.

With any luck, assuming I have the time to cram it all into the space of just a week, and that my programmering fingers don't fall off from all of the difficult coding that lies ahead, by next Monday you'll be able to play a fun and exciting game that I have decided to call "Generic Snake Clone". It will be super and fun and exciting. You will be able to eat the green dots. Amazing gameplay lies ahead. Please be excitementing.

Overview: Roll the ball and color more tiles than the AI opponent within the given time limit without falling of the edges. Easily one of the least interesting descriptions of recent months! This game is certainly not the best selling point for AGameAWeek.
