Well done, Apple, on creating a wonderful ecosystem for indie devs.

Will a certain game work better with larger wonderfully presented HD artwork, for example?
Since I'm no artist, as we're all well aware by now, I went the opposite way, and tried to figure out what Asteroids might look like in HD, if it used even smaller sprites!!

So, here we go again.
We're up to Year 5, and hopefully we'll get a full year out of it, this year (nnngh).
With Monkey, we get a chance to go back over our previous games, and remake them for a new audience, with iOS, Android and Browser based versions. I expect this will prove to be an exciting year.
Given that we can play at showing off, what games do you think would work best, and adapt well to the new touchy/mouse based gameplay options?
Or, what games could prove to be an obscure tricky challen...

I'm all out of little experimental ideas, so I figured I'd play it safe, and make a shitty little classic game!
Plus I've been FAR too busy with the Monkey framework, this week, to do anything bigger.

I tried to watch an episode of House, but gave up halfway, and zonked out by about 11'ish.
Probably didn't do me much good, then, to have woken up at half one in the morning, and spent the next 4 hours coding away.

When I was building the beta versions of NeonPlat Adventures, it always included a little readme file.
The final release didn't have one, but I figured that was ok, because it was so simple it didn't really need one.
The original readme was only really there to explain that beta peeps shouldn't mention the Calendar, and then I kinda rambled on a bit!
Anyhoo, if you find yourself in desperate need of a readme file, this is it!

Another week given away to my body's desire to make me be a lazy git!

Simplest example.
You know in Horizontal Shooter, when your weapon goes "SQQEUUUUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"..
Can't do that..
It's gotta go "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep"
Regular bullets will go "Rat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat" instead of "bang-bing-bada-pow-pip-pat-pap-bang"
Imagine SpikeDislike without it constantly getting higher and higher, as you up the combo.

I don't usually do Friday updates, but today, day two of working on this game, I got things looking quite nice.
Figured I might as well post about it.
No gameplay (collision detection/death/scores/etc) yet, but I got a nice simple looking engine going, as far as scrolling, base enemy and shooting's concerned.
The current enemy are Base enemy. They sit on the scrolling landscape, and shoot at you.

4 rubbish semi-planned games is far too much garbage for one coder to take.
Let's instead return to our semi-rubbish unplanned games. They worked better!

A nice slow paced shooter this week.
Poor old CPC Basic couldn't really handle bullet-hell type games.
Well, ok, maybe it could if you really really tried, and came up with a scrolling ascii grid of bullets, but for the most part it just wasn't happening.
Instead, Cassette 50 creators had to rely on other ideas. Like trying to kill you with your own desire to kill!!
