I completely forgot about those little mines, and the TNT Plunger based mines, too! Then getting them all working on Travellators, too. Plenty of work.

I haven't really been updating this like I oughta be, so here's the "So Far" Day one (Tuesday 30th March 2010) Make it Big Decided to go with the "upped size" style, so set about redrawing all the old background tiles at a higher resolution. I considered making 50-odd brick tiles, and give them all a slight texture, but figured that'd kill your memory, so instead created an overlay texture that would be added to the screen once the game's done it's frame drawing....

I've got the basics down, and am now working on getting a nice big level to play. At first I was going to build a bunch of levels.. But.. um.. Time is of the essence, and all! <a href="https://socoder.net/uploads/1/Space_Munky_in_a_Mario_Costume_(Screenshot_14_Mar_2010_163953).png"><img src="https://socoder.net/uploads/1/Space_Munky_in_a_Mario_Costume_(Screenshot_14_Mar_2010_163953)_thumb.png"></a> This little screen resembles about 1% of the total level area, and it's provi...

Okeydokey, here we go! If you've got BlitzMax, prepare to see the insane chaos of Jay's coding style!! ARRRGHHHHHHH!!!! The framework, as it is, at this moment in time. The music engine isn't all it oughta be, I've really not had the time, and I'm quite annoyed that it's not finished yet. As such, the app also isn't done, and it'll all have to wait another week. dangit. No matter, here's what is here. 1. The framework. 2. The basics of the Music Engine....

legoman4032 asked in the Youtube comments if I had mp3's. Who am I to argue.. Extended, via the basic use of a repeaty bit in the middle, but in an instrumental stylee! Karaoke!! Sing along! You know the words! and, so it doesn't feel left out.. The original remix from last February (2009), with a bit that's not from "Devil in the Dark", and is instead from "Elementary, My Dear Data" (I think), and that I couldn't be bothered to hunt down to cut the video from, so ended u...

Blimey!! Step 1. (3/4 hours) After about 3 or 4 hours spent prodding Ubuntu to actually get it to install properly, I finally managed to get it up and running by downloading a different Ubuntu, and installing it onto a thumbstick instead.. Step 2. (10 seconds) I downloaded BlitzMax and followed <a href="https://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=84385">these</a> instructions. Basically I just copy+pasted that topmost line of code into the Terminal, got that to update things,...

I have actually but a heck of a lot of work into the framework, so far! Take a peek inside to find out some nice nuggets of info, and take a look at the future of AGameAWeek!! (It's a bit wordy, mind!!)

Absolute chaos at the house of Jay, this week. First up, good news, that new PC I ordered MONTHS AGO (October 19th) has finally turned up.. *sigh* Annoyingly Windows 7 - 64bit refuses to work with either of the two USB->Ethernet connectors that I own, which basically means my entire network is now in a total mess. The new PC is lovely, and will do many things nicely, except that I can't access ANY of my stuff from the other PC. No coding templates, no music, no sound, not even a Platdude anywhere...

This week, due to popular demand, Blockman's Getting More. As you may have read, I attempted a new art style (fweeDee!!) last week, which really didn't work out at all. So, this week I'm aiming for the Pseudo popped-out-a-bit art style, and all seems happy in the world of Blockman. <img src="https://socoder.net/uploads/1/blockmangetsmoreb.png">

I got the basic slot machine reels working. A couple of nice functions. 1 to fill them up, 1 to draw them. Nudges work, Holds work. Everything vaguely important works.. Then I added the Pacman sprites. <img src="https://socoder.net/uploads/1/pacslot.png"> and started to get that "I've already done this, there's nothing new I can add..." feeling. I think I'm done with Arcade Slots. I've already done it.. There's nothing new to add. :sad face:

If you've been keeping track, you'll have probably noticed an ever increasing number in the folders of my games. These are the weeks of the Wednesday Workshop, and as you trace through my games, you'll see a whole lot of matches between the WW and the game's basic idea. WW is fantastic for ideas, but sometimes things don't quite work out. Take this image, from a basic engine, all the way back in week #142.. (That's 76 weeks ago!) OMG! It's a Trial Edition!! WTF!? Demo! ARGH!!! Actually, I've not finished yet. But rather than skip out a week of AGameAWeek, I've decided to release a quick Trial edition. In this version, you must guide Platdude through 11 classic JNKPlatDS08 levels. They're all in there, and they all work approximately as they did before There are, of course, odd timing issues, as I've not quite got everything exact. It's not TOO obvious ...

I made a start on this game a few days ago, and things seem to be progressing at a decent enough rate. The basic gameplay engine is in there, now. The test level (200x50 blocks) loads, platdude can run around, grab onto bars, jump around and use ladders. He can also work plungers and have the blocks open and shut accordingly. So, that's all nice! You might notice that the graphics are looking remarkably similar to JNKPlatDS08. That's because they ARE those graphics! The engine loads t...

Like Electronic Arts, my game titles are becoming ever more complex, with themes and years being added on, in an ever expanding way. No matter, it's still only 12 characters long, so that's ok Yesterday I made a decision that might break up AGameAWeek for a few weeks. I don't seem to have nearly enough time, recently, so I'll pad things out a bit, and work on a lengthy project. (Although, if it helps, I worked on a bunch of MidletPascal Java t...

Occasionally, I like to jot down my current doings. It helps keep track of projects, and ideas, and sometimes getting a bit of feedback helps. So feel free to do that! 1. Java/MidletPascal Since I got my latest phone (an LGCookie) I decided to get back into Java coding... Except, without that horrible Java bit. So, whilst learning MidletPascal, I've released a few games, and also started to write a series of MidletPascal tutorials, too. So, there's that! I'm continuing to build up a fun...
