When I first bought my iPad, I never imagined the amount of "work" that I'd end up doing on the thing.
The fact is, it's SO much easier to have your iPad on hand, than it is a giant laptop.
That's not to say I don't use my laptop. It's pretty much an essential part of AGameAWeek. You can't exactly do your coding on iOS, so the laptop is there for the majority of the things I do, but over the course of the last year-or-so, I've found myself doing smaller bit-tasks on my iPad.
I figured I ...

Neovember is a month in which I'm taking the engine from NeonPlat Raw, and playing about with it to create a bunch of different gameplay styles.
Once we're done, I'll bundle everything back into a package, and pop it up on all the different systems.
This week's experimental gameplay mode comes courtesy of Blockman. Not the hungry-pellet-eating version of Blockman, the classic platforming/collection form.
You start the game as you normally would, with you, some balls, and some bad guys.

Get used to seeing this, as you're going to see a lot of it.
The other day I asked for opinions on what April might bring.
Three people chipped up.
One was over at Curly's World of Freeware, where Tormuse suggested I should go with the Word Games.

Even a (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/2012/08/home-again-home-again-jiggity-jig/">Brain Tumor) can't stop me from achieving 12 games in 2012!!!
True, I'd've much preferred to have done AGameAWeek for the entire year, but.. meh.. whatever!
(stupid tumor! hmpf)

Week Five.
I'm still stuck here.
But with any luck, the next few days should be my last in here.
There's an odd bubble forming at the back of my neck, which appears to be getting larger each day.? Hopefully this is meant to dissipate, and leave me feeling all healthy again.? Currently its doing the exact opposite.

When I was building the beta versions of NeonPlat Adventures, it always included a little readme file.
The final release didn't have one, but I figured that was ok, because it was so simple it didn't really need one.
The original readme was only really there to explain that beta peeps shouldn't mention the Calendar, and then I kinda rambled on a bit!
Anyhoo, if you find yourself in desperate need of a readme file, this is it!

The following blog post contains words, which are built up using various letters.
You are expected to read the words in the correct order, moving your eyes from left to right to read each line, and then moving on to the left hand side of the next line.
Continue in this method until you have read all of the words of this blog post, and are <em>happy</em> with your und...

Every character, when caught in a bubble and collected, can be "worn" like a "hat".
(They don't look like hats, but that's what I started calling them, and that's what I'll continue to call them!)
Each hat will give the NeonPlat a special skill, allowing him to do all manner of wonderous things.
The run through so far includes ball throwing, ice throwing, flower throwing, drop through the floors, hop in the air, shield, and many more.
Today, I added "Multiplier x2" an...

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going.
Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up.
If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better
The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up.
Anyhoo, this is a n...

This week a suggestion from Authentic Kaizen, who suggests having a neon styled platform game, with bubble bobble style components.
The game has taken a few turns during the week, changing from spike induced terror, a game with a frog like creature, and a whole lot more besides!
It now appears to be settling down quite nicely into some kind of obscure chaos.
Hurray for chaos!!

Is that title subtle enough for Google, d'you think?
This week, I've been getting to grips with MidletPascal, and dodging it's annoying mid-compile crashes, in a vague attempt to get some games onto my phone.
Sorry folks, this week's AGameAWeek is entirely Java based.

I decided to start a Dev diary here, for all my DS Developing. I figured people would eventually stumble across it, and start reading away at all the fun coding. Either that, or they'll completely ignore these bits, and just download the Experimental stuff like they usually do.
Either way, this is going to be a part dev-diary, part progress report, and part release schedule for all things DS.
I currently have 4 DS Projects on the go. They are Stringy Things, JNKPlat, An Alien Breed type clone,...

While I was playing Ultima Online a lot, I decided to do a silly Ultima based comic. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but it took ages to cut out and manage each of the panels of a comic, in order to make the pages look good.
As I always say, "A simple idea can always be made easier if you use Blitz to do all the boring work for you." It's a long saying, but it fits.
Hyper Llama Man lasted for 6 pages.. Not a long time, but at least I managed to pull myself away from Ultima!

When I started doing Wed.Workshop, a few people complained that a week was too short a time, so in September 2005 I did the first and only Monthly Workshop. The Super September Challenge asked people to recreate a classic 8-bit game in a 16-bit style, and add some silly extras that people kept adding to games around that time.
My entry was to be Super Dig Dug.
It started off well enough, but then the sound started going all screwy, and I couldn't be bothered fixing it. So it was left to rot...
