Cache Update
Blog
10th January 2020
The Shoebox is now using the "Server Worker" method of caching, instead of the older AppCache style.
With any luck, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference, and everything will continue to work swimmingly.
I'm not sure what the exact rule for cache-update-checks is, especially if you're playing with an "Add to Home Screen" kind of bookmark, but it appears to be doing a decent job of keeping up to date.
Please do give it a try, and let me know how you get on with the update, reporting...

Protect the city from the ominous bouncing meteors. It makes so sense, but shoot them all anyway!
If you've a Switch, and have downloaded SmileBASIC, you can grab a copy of the game using the Public Key...

Confused About Days
Next, On Switch..
Blog
8th January 2020
The game is currently titled Alien Spindome, but I'm not sure the whole "Spin" thing is going to end up being part of it, so I'll probably have to come up with a different title for it.
Maybe I'll just do it as a remake of the Amiga PD original Super Obliteration, which is fairly obviously based on..!?
Who knows.
That's the game I started doing yesterday, after about an hour of staring at the HERO level data, wondering how to compress it into something I could type out.

Five Blocks
Game
7th January 2020
Five of the shapes within the grid need to be filled in.
Use the tile-counts on the rows and columns to help figure out which of the shapes contain blocks. Views 139, Upvotes 25

Find the five blocks within the grid.
The numbers on the edge tell you how many tiles are filled in on that row/column.
Not all rows/columns have numbers, so watch out for that!
You can Print off a Sheet full of puzzles here, or Play in your browser, here.

6th January 2020
Oh yeah, Jumping Jack is that thing where the little guy hops his way up a tower, then gets hit by a random enemy, then falls, then is stunned just long enough that he can't avoid the oncoming fall, then falls, then is stunned again, falls, falls more and falls again, until he's down at the bottom of the level again, and you're left angry and rage-quit.
It's that one, isn't it..
Bugger.
Right, name change incoming.
Please ignore any and all oddities in the database!!

Guide Jack through the maze trying to light up all the squares, but watch out for the evil ghosties!
The game was originally intended to be a Q*Bert clone, but with a less diagonal approach. People REALLY dislike the diagonal controls of Q*Bert!
Once flattened, however, the game actually ended up being more like Oh Mummy, with the end result being somewhere inbetween.
Quick reflexes necessary, and try not to fall!

Welcome back to AGameAWeek, and the first game you'll be playing if you don't have Petit Switch.
This morning I need to double check the gameplay on Jumping Jack, then get it all uploaded, take a video, upload that, then faff about with all the blog stuff.

One of his suggestions is actually a game I've been thinking about myself, for the past few weeks.

I didn't want to make a "Proper" QBert clone because people really seem to hate the diagonal controls of QBert, so have instead made it flatter and squarer.
