Lazy Birthday Ahead
Blog
23rd February 2018
The 3D printer finally managed to start printing, last night.
It managed about 8% of the print, before the print "popped" off the mat, and everything went horribly awry.
Bah, humbug..
I'll probably have another attempt at it later.
Since it's my birthday, I'll be sitting about and being generally lazy, today.
Nothing much more to say than that!
Lazy Jay wins, today..

Getting Somewhere
Blog
21st February 2018
Flappadiddle-Doo's main menu now has Worlds 1 to 6 listed, as well as Endless 1 to 6 too.
The unlocks work, the extra characters are in, and everything's golden!
Once everything's up and running, you'll be able to play through and unlock everything as you go.
Hurray!!

Yesterday was spent rearranging bits of my bedroom to (hopefully!) fit a 3D Printer in there.
If it doesn't fit atop the chest of drawers, I've got an emergency plank of wood that it should fit on, but it'll have to temporarily be on the floor until I can find somewhere to plonk the plank of wood!!
Need more space!!!

Fixed a Save
Blog
16th February 2018
I *think* I've now sorted the save-file issues.
After hours of stress testing, which showed up oodles of issues, I've inevitably decided that I should make the values Unsigned, since in 99% of my games, the scores tend to go up, not down.

Save Issue
Blog
16th February 2018
Over the past few weeks, I've noticed my highscores seemingly vanish for no reason.
I initially put this down to the fact that I was compiling over and over, and occasionally deleting the build folder, thus losing the save file.
Yesterday, I finally wrote a stress test for the save files, and was shocked to find that, indeed, it's losing highscores.

Fixes to Fix

Seems I've broken a few bits of the framework, this week.
RSKGames has reported that the music seems to stop after a few seconds.
Not quite sure why that might be, but it's definitely something to look into.

"Alert" says the debugger in XCode.

AHA!!!
.. Can't show you any of the results, yet, though, as the entire framework's graphical stuff is currently all commented out, until I convert everything from GLFW to GLES.
But that's a VERY important step in getting the thing up and running on iOS.
Previous attempts have spewed out thousands of Linker errors, but now I'm fairly confident that I vaguely might maybe know, roughly, what I might have been possibly doing wrong!!
.. I think!
There's now "only" 44 warnings to ...

I spent a bit of time looking into Pico-8, yesterday, (Spurred on by SkyBerron posting this teeny weeny version of SpikeDislike) but it's a wildly different language than I'm used to.
Lots of little bytesized bits of code, and a methodology that I'm just not used to.
I'm sure that, with a little more poking and prodding, I might learn to code well in the language, but for now I think I'd much rather be sticking with my new C++ Framework.
But the bug is already starting to niggle awa...

Teensy Tiny Dislike
Blog
7th February 2018
Over on the Lexaloffle forums (!?), SkyBerron has done an even smaller version of SpikeDislike than my CPC 10-Liner version, from the other day.
Managing to cram all the playability into just 278 characters, the game's missing even more of the combo system than my 10 liner edition.
It's not easy, adding combos, when the code is that cramped!
Head on over, give it a play, and be sure to give it a like whilst you're there.
