It's gotten a teensy bit cooler, tonight, and I've been able to get some coding done! The "ingame GUI" for Space Battle isn't looking awful... And that's as good as you're going to get I might fix up that explosion graphic to make it a bit more "Stand out'y", but otherwise things are definitely a bit more playable. I've added "double tap" to the controls, like with Atoms. I think that's probably the best bet when dealing with t...

*phew* Heatwave in the UK. The poor cat's lying on the threshold of the back door, trying to stay in the shade of the house, whilst hoping for a bit of a breeze from outside. I'm sat with a fan blasting in my face, and all in all, not much is getting done in the coding department! I did attempt to do a bit of music, but the sound of the fan drowned everything out! Nothing good is happening, gamedev wise, today..

I tried to get this week's Shoebox game done, yesterday, but with so much GUI based stuff to do.. .. My head went "No, I'm sick to death of doing GUIs, this week!!" and decided to shut down. I'm going to push ahead and try again, today. If not, we'll have to abandon the Shoebox release for this week, because I'm not really sure that any game I make, will fit my head's current need to do something other than yet another GUI driven thing!

Busy day yesterday, and after I got back I needed a big long 4 hour nap to recover!! Once awake, I got a couple of little bits finished off, including this week's Petit Switch game (coming later tonight) and this week's SoCoder Newsletter (coming in about an hour or so).

At 3pm I have to be at the town hall, where I'm having a discussion with a council worker about my upcoming disability tribunal. Oh the fun!! As such, any and all coding will probably be abandoned for much of the day, as my mind whizzes around trying to decide what I'm going to say, and all that kind of gubbins. Not a fan of this kind of thing, if I'm honest. Hopefully I'll get back on track, later tonight.

I needed some quick and simple spaceships, so decided to try making them with that old JNK Sprite Generator that I appear to have neglected for a number of months! They might not look very good, but scaled just right, and on the right sort of background, they're passable! .. A bit.. You can generate your own squiggles here.

A simple little word puzzle, today. Add letters from the top to bottom, or remove letters from the bottom to top, to make words which fill up the pyramid. You can either choose to jumble the letters in each word or not, but the original solution is designed without any jumbles. You can Play Word Pyramid here as part of the daily Foldapuz printable puzzle sheet.

Really couldn't get into the whole "Redefineable Controls" stuff, yesterday. Instead, I messed about with Tower Solitaire's rules a little, and also played around with a few other bits and pieces.

As per @RSKGames' suggestion, I've added a couple of Swap mechanics to Tower solitaire. You can swap any free cards in the tower, but only when they're on the same row. You can also swap the topmost card amongst the dealt piles, too. There's not a LOT of things you can swap, but hopefully it should be enough to make things a little bit easier in the 5 and 6 tower modes. You can Play Tower Solitaire in the Card Games section of the Shoebox.

As the collection grows ever onwards, people send feedback for the various oddities that I create. You can Play Tower Solitaire in the Shoebox, under the Card Games.

@RSKGames says..

For regular Solitaire players this version might need some time to get used to as the card that is required to build the tower is not one less or one more of the cards in stack but follows a simple rule. Yeah, it's a slightly different strategy, but it makes things a lot tougher when you end up with a v...

I might switch up a tiny rule for the Tower Solitaire game. Instead of having a Swap Pile, I think I might instead make the "3 dealt cards" spread out into three distinct piles. I'll have a play with this rule, today, and see which appears to work the best. Other than that, I guess I need to start thinking about next week's Petit-Switch game, and figuring out what else needs to be done with the Browsercade framework. I still haven't added any kind of Redefine Joypad thing, yet, so might ai...

I woke up with a Solitaire game in my head.. As you do! Figured I'd code it, and see how it turned out, and .. Yeah, it's quite playable! Currently near-impossible, but I think having a "Swap Pile" should help that quite a bit. Basic rules. You can place Same Suit/Value card atop each other in the pyramid. If a card matches the Suit/Value of both of the two adjacent cards, you may place the card in the row above. (eg, if you have a 2 of hearts in your hand, and the two cards below are a ...
