Spooky goings on at Foldapuz!! I hope you all have a wonderfully sinister Halloween.

Trying to catch up with my own flu-fuelled laziness, I managed once again to do a nice big spurt of coding, yesterday.

The triangles weren't too hard to get up and running yesterday, so I also took time to make a completely random letter grid. The letter grid doesn't really have any specific solution due to it being entirely random, but you're supposed to play it like you would a game of Boggle.. Trying to find words with letters that join up.

If you've tried clicking the "Words, Maths, Logic" links on the Foldapuz site, you'll probably have noticed that the templates aren't 100% just of that type. This is simply because I haven't yet coded enough puzzles for each category.

I added a simple new game to Foldapuz, last night, but .. Would you believe it.. It didn't show up on today's default layout. D'oh!

Added Word Grid. It's not the best word selection, but at least it works. I did try making it only use "The most common 3 letter words", but it tended to get stuck whilst trying to generate the puzzles due to there not being nearly enough "common" words in the list. I might rejig this game at a later point.

Whilst sitting wondering what other games I could add to Foldapuz, I received an email, from regular emailer Michael, suggesting I should add a few instructions to the site's various games.

Spent an insane amount of time reformatting the URL so that I can add the new Words/Maths/Logic shortcut URLs into the mix. Seems to function well enough, and should allow people to quickly pick their favourite types of puzzles from the site. Additionally added a very brief set of instructions for the games in the "How To" page. Hopefully that's enough instructions to get the player going. As always, let me know if it isn't!

A minor update to the way Word Ladder is generated, which has sped the whole thing up by a remarkable amount. What took about 3 or 4 seconds, yesterday, now only takes around 0.2 seconds. Optimisation is the key! Technically, instead of checking each and every word in the list, I first ensured the wordlist was properly alphabetised.. Next I jump through the list in groups of 1500 words, until "over", then do a quick sift between the 1500 chunk of words. This is the "Normal" way to do wordlists, but...

Rewrote a significant portion of Sudoku thanks to feedback from @JulieMontoya20. The puzzles are a lot easier, now, but should at least be doable! Added Word Ladder. It's a little bit slow. Hopefully I can find a way to speed that up. Note : Due to the way I've rewritten the Random Words code, (so the Word Ladder worked!) Yesterday's Solutions will not work properly for today or tomorrow.

...is the apparent name for the foldable booklet of puzzles. Today I need to decide if I'm going to continue to work on FoldAPuz, or take the time to work on more JNKPlat levels. Or, perhaps I should work on both of them!?!

Added Doodle, Target and Anagram. Tweaked Crossed to give more common words instead of the bizarre, cryptic 4-letter oddities that it was previously coming up with!

With the 3DS onslaught in full swing, and this week's game being delayed, what better time than to stop and pause, and think about the other myriad of things that I'd like to do..?!

For the past few weeks, my iPad battery's been conking out halfway through the day, with about 30% remaining.

Had a nice long game of Super Scrabble against Mum, today, and the games last much longer, as expected! Took about 2 hours, or thereabout, before one of us had won*.

Might as well make this an official AGameAWeek release, eh? This week's release isn't really a game. It's more of a Tool, or a Game-Companion!

This is coming along rather well. The scores are now all totting up, and everything's working to a moderately decent standard. The game/tool's not very good at noticing gaps in word placements, so you could put down "Happy Cat" and it wouldn't notice the space. That needs fixed. But if you're playing along with a real-world board game, as is the intention with this, you can probably work around that slight flaw!!

Not sure where I'll be plonking this week's game, but I expect a quick upload to the server in HTML5 format will probably suffice. The basic layout is working, tile placement seems ok. There's a Cancel word button and a Enter Word button. There's also undo functionality, which will be helpful when you accidentally hit the Enter Word button!!
