Last night, I saved my test level!
Unfortunately, it uncovered further complications.

Level editing was such a simple plan, at the start, but with every little thing I tweak, the whole process gets more and more complicated!

Level Possibilities
Blog
18th August 2018
I've currently got the engine running with a level grid of 40x25, but the game can cope with any number of ratios, as long as the level data still fits within the confines of 1024 bytes.

JNKPlat - Basics
Blog

The basics are coming together well enough, aside from the odd controller issues.

You might not have noticed, but in the 2018 Framework, the two main control schemes are ever so slightly different.

With so many games to play, there's oodles of feedback for each.
Let's see what RSKGames thought of this week's game!
@RSKGamesOverview: A fast paced circular bullet hell game. I liked it better than the ''Orbital Projections'' and ''The Trouble with Vents'' which till day I can never play properly. (I had to look both of those games up! I've made too many games!!)Views 182, Upvotes 29

@RSKGames has commented!
A bit more information text message in the video about the number of levels and goal of the game would have been nice.

Curiously Slow
Blog
5th July 2018
I tested this week's game on 3DS, last night, and it's all manner of slow, hitting 20 fps quite often for no apparent reason.

It's been a long time since I did regular Trailers and Videos and things, but I've decided to attempt it with the new setup.
A trailer-esque thing for last week's game.
Thoughts/suggestions are, as always, welcome.

Something Bouncy?
Blog
26th June 2018
My mind wanders back to a game idea, long long long ago.
Super Bouncer (2003!) never got off the ground because I knew I'd need really big levels, and I couldn't be bothered to make them!
(This is a running theme)
With my modern day proc-gen methods, I could probably get a decent random-path generator up and running to keep the game varied enough to be interesting.
Couple it with better collision detection (really, anything would be better than the old test version!) and it has the potenti...

Don't you love it when, after a recent Update, Windows always opens the browser up. You always expect the page it leads you to will be full of actual information about what the windows update just did.
..
But, no.
It never does.
It's always the exact same generic "Windows Help" page that tell you absolutely nothing.
After this morning's update, I could barely read the generic Windows Help page, because my laptop's screen was too dark.
Hmm...

Still no "Arcade"
Blog
2nd June 2018
I spent most of yesterday trying, over and over, to get the regular standard mode to feel right.
After hours (literally hours!) of playtesting, I'm fairly sure now that the basic levels are at least mostly beatable.

A day of Blocks
Blog
31st May 2018
A rather productive day, today, as most of the audio got finished off, the level creation worked out well, and 3DS controller tests now feel much more comfortable.
I'm now trying to come up with interesting concepts that might expand the basic game, but as usual I'm worried that doing so might break the very logic of the game. I'll really need to think hard about what does and doesn't work in the game, and might even split it into its own "arcade mode", rather than break the main game...
