A demo!!?!?!!?!?! With all the freeware that's on here, the years of making freeware, and the fact that I've only ever made games for the fun of making the games, it's pretty damn unthinkable that one of my games might actually be a demo! I'd love to, but considering it's taken me about 6 months to get around to fixing Ubuntu (just starting, may not go well!!) the chances of me fixing my DSBrew stuff is pretty darned minimal. Sorry!

A random game idea on Sunday, with a totally random name, and then a shock co-incidence when Monday turned out to be Roger Hargreaves' birthday, and the Mr Men ended up being plastered all over Google! Still fiddling around with the basics of NinjaDuck iOS, and have actually done a whole lot of work since yesterday. Although, you still can't see any of it yet. FAR too busy right now! What i'm trying to do today is to make a simple little game. If you've been following you'll know that I have some sort of oddball Bee game in mind, so I've shoved the bee, the particles and the background images in, I've got the basic movement sorted, and am trying to figure out how the game should work. Slow work!

1. No sound pitch. Jinkies Munkies, What the Funkies!?!? Simplest example. You know in Horizontal Shooter, when your weapon goes "SQQEUUUUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!".. Can't do that.. It's gotta go "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" Regular bullets will go "Rat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat" instead of "bang-bing-bada-pow-pip-pat-pap-bang" Imagine SpikeDislike without it constantly getting higher and higher, as you up the combo. .. Another day pondering about the should/shouldn't monkey issue. Another day wondering if I shouldn't just be writing a game.. I should be focusing on the important bits, but instead, my minds contemplating what could be. We're in March. I don't usually do Friday updates, but today, day two of working on this game, I got things looking quite nice. Figured I might as well post about it. No gameplay (collision detection/death/scores/etc) yet, but I got a nice simple looking engine going, as far as scrolling, base enemy and shooting's concerned. The current enemy are Base enemy. You know what they say. If one PC break down, they all decide to do it simultaneously. That's exactly what happened this week. A PC at work literally fried last week. Power supply and motherboard were both dead dead, and the guy at work ended up having to buy a new laptop. A nice slow paced shooter this week. Poor old CPC Basic couldn't really handle bullet-hell type games. Well, ok, maybe it could if you really really tried, and came up with a scrolling ascii grid of bullets, but for the most part it just wasn't happening. Why is it always the little random games with a dire lack of content that become the most popular ones?! Lesson Learned : I oughta stop trying so hard, and just knock out the simple little games! I was thinking this whilst doing the Advent collection. Some of those were really playable, and I had a whole lot of fun whilst making them.
