Sorry to get you excited, there, but the little dungeon puzzle thing has already been scrapped.

The classic returns. Trying out a new method of insanity, this time. There are pink pickups to grab, and also the occasional explosive device which will cause extra challenges along the way. Other than that, the rules are the same. Pop the Popcorn, and try to survive.

*shrugs* Gotta make a start on a Foldapuz game, today, but I'm at a loss as to what that might be. Currently thinking a cluster sort of thing, filling in the grid with letters to make groups of maybe 4 or 5 tile chunks. I think that'd word, but it feels like it might end up being too much like Rebordered. Not sure. Today's Plan. 1. Post Space Popcorn 2. Wake up my brain and figure out a puzzle!

The Browsercade edition of Space Popcorn is coming together well enough, but right now it's just you vs the popcorn, and there aren't any pickups or anything like that, to speak of. Today I'll be trying to decide what methods to aim for, and figure out what nice new powerups should be added. Incidentally, this'll be my 52nd game of the year. So, um.. Yeah.. Woot! From here on, I don't have to code a single game, for the rest of the year, and I'll still have made AGameAW...

Yesterday's attempt at making a moving-blocks sort of game didn't really end up with any great results. Today, then, I'll probably do something spacey. I'm thinking Space Popcorn might need a revisit, with a bit of the collection-gameplay from Popcorn Bucket. Some kind of mashup between the two. Coding Time!!

An image popped into my head, the other night, and so I spent most of yesterday getting that into the Browsercade engine. Today, I need to figure out how to turn that into a game. I'd better get doing that, then, because I'll be posting the finished game in the morning!!

Bit of a late night, last night. Well, it wasn't too late. I got to sleep around about 1 in the morning, but then inexplicably woke up at 3, and could NOT get back to sleep again! Wasn't until about 6:30 before I did, and as would be expected, I'm utterly wrecked, this morning. Bah, humbug!

A recent discussion in an email thread brought up the fact that I used to (back in the days of evil, evil, evil Napster) make weekly/daily suggestions for music I'd found. Lately, I've been bulking up my JPop collection thanks to the wonders of Apple Music, and the idea of bringing back a semi-regular JPicks feature seemed to be a ... decent idea? Maybe..! Apple Music Link If you've got an Apple Music subscription, give that link a whirl, and let me know if it works. The playlis...

A quick "game" tutorial type thing for a silly little game, created using PetitCom/SmileBASIC on the Nintendo Switch. If you've grabbed a copy from the Japanese eShop, you should be able to follow along, since the program itself now includes a complete English translation. I'll assume you're using the program with a USB Keyboard attached, but if not, most of the keyboard functionality can be accessed by hitting the [-] button on your controller. From the main menu, hit the Make a Prog...

Busy day, yesterday, as I unexpectedly managed to get this week's Petit Switch game up to a decent standard, got that submitted, then popped to the site to blog about it.. At which point I realised I hadn't posted the Foldapuz game, yet, so had to sit here posting two games simultaneously! Hmm..

With the new SpikeDislike.com being in place, and me aiming to make the biggest, baddest, bestest version of SpikeDislike available, I've found myself heading back into the SpikeDislike2 folder quite a bit.

Lots of internal tweaks to the engine, today. The game now records your highest combo, and places that alongside your highscore in the saves. This means that, when necessary, I can pop that up on the screen. Your last score on the scoreboard is now highlighted and bounces to and fro, to stand out on the list. I do miss having that in the Browsercade. .. Maybe I should try to figure out a way to do that, but Browsercade's save data is there for lots of different types of games, and having a Top 10...

The word puzzle/game thing I thought was going to work has also ended up being abandoned. The game's own logic became its downfall!

Spent most of yesterday trying to make this effect look half-decent. Kinda works, I guess.. The flickering of the torch helps disguise the terrible way I did the light effect. It's not 100%.. It's more like 60%!! *shrugs* Now to add gameplay.

A decade is over, and what have I done? 373 games, created a new blogging script for here, rewritten the Socoder forum, started a few new sites and more! Oh, and a brain tumour! Over the past number of years, I've taken to having a short nap midway through my day. Otherwise things tend to drag on, since I usually tend not to do much else but sit coding and musicing and artsying all day, and it all gets a little monotonous without gaps inbetween. My naps help build up the energy to carry on my coding well into the night, and continue to make the crazy oddities that you get to play regularly..
