Seems I'm currently in the mood to do more odd other stuff, rather than the core game coding, this week.
Aw well, here's another tune, which may or may not find it's way into a future game.

My Spreadshirt AGameAWeek store has been available for many years, but is rarely ever bothered with.. .. Usually because I never bother to link to it!
Yesterday I posted the "Evolution of Dude" pic, and someone on Twitter suggested it'd make a nice TShirt.
...Yeah, why not!!
So, today, I'm reopening (and/or re-using!) the store, and have added the (URL "https://agameaweek.spreadshirt.co.uk/evolution-of-dude-tshirt-A28273211/customize/color/4">Evolution of Dude TShirt.)

No Game :(
Blog
4th May 2014
Although I started a game, the other day, something else came up and it's removed my normally-frantic coding spirit.
Family life is always more important than AGameAWeek.
Normal service will resume next week, probably with the game I started the other day.
Happy 4th of May, folks.
Live Long, and Prosper.

Forums are a bit of a dying artform, lately.
Between Facebook and Twitter, the idea of having to signup to a specific site for a conversation, when you could equally have that conversation over Twitter is all a bit daft and unnecessary.
What can I say, I'm a grumpy old geezer, who prefers things oldskool!!
That's not to say I don't "get" Twitter. I use it a lot.. .. A LOT!! And it's great for quick responses, too. Ask a question, anything you want, and generally get an answer within about a minut...

As much as I count myself as "a bit of a Trekkie", I've never considered myself a full-on Trekkie. Sure, I enjoy watching it, and I do manage to follow 95% of the twisting turning sprawling plotlines, and enjoy the mythology of the show.
I even recently subscribed to the Star Trek Starships model collection, which, every single fortnight, brings a lovely little starship to my door. (Well, ok, technically they get delivered in pairs, monthly!!
I'm really enjoying these little ships, and my shelf is alrea...

Yesterday I tweeted that Blockman Worlds isn't doing too well, at which point I got bombarded by people telling me that they've played it, and how I oughta give it time to spread.
Yeah, probably..
Thing is, though, I'm finding myself comparing it to Future Classics..

What would happen if someone in the past was given a list of modern day videogame titles?
What kind of games would they imagine from far off in their future?
And what sort of games would they create, on their retro-tastic 8-bit home computers!?
It's time, once again, to step inside the Future Classics Time Vortex, and find out!!

This Week...

This week I've decided to resurrect the classic "(URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/GameList.php?ShowJust=108">Future Classics)".
In the spirit of the original, this collection will be made up of short minigames, each one taking the title from a current-gen game, but being created in the spirit of an 8-bit "rubbish" game.
It's been one heck of a challenge to get the game up and running in such a short amount of time, so the initial release will be OUYA/Windows/HTML5 just like Boxsplodings, relying entirely o...

Leaderboards!!! :D
Blog
20th March 2014
.. Sorry, I haven't suddenly added them.
Instead, I've made this post in the hopes of starting a discussion on the feasibility of adding scoreboards to future AGameAWeek titles.
It's something I've attempted in the past, and old versions of Microbes, Spider and others still kind-of, mostly, sort of work.
But there's a few issues that are stopping me from integrating it into the current framework.

I like to randomly throw games out there, and see how the general public takes to them.
Sometimes it's fun to watch as fun games plummet into disasterous pits of unnoticability.
Occasionally, you get a surprise hit, and are kind of disappointed that you hadn't put any kind of pricetag on the thing.
Today is a definite example of the latter, as I watch "Every Good Bird" flapping it's way into the stratosphere!

You wait months for a new AGameAWeek iOS game, and then two come along at once!
Apologies that these weren't posted some time last week, but they've been sat in "Waiting for Review" status for AGES!! Much, much longer than the regular "7 days" wait.

I usually try my best to come up with unique or interesting takes on existing games. Taking things in new directions, like Blockman which definitely isn't Pacman, or TetriPong which clumped together two completely different games.
Occasionally, though, it's nice to sit back, relax, and make a crazy lazy clone of something, just like everyone else.
