I think we're at the end of the road for imaginative SmileBASIC games! Here's a pretty formulaic Snake clone. If you've a Switch and SmileBASIC, you can grab a copy of the game using the Public Key

A decade is over, and what have I done? 373 games, created a new blogging script for here, rewritten the Socoder forum, started a few new sites and more! Oh, and a brain tumour! Blast your paint-spike (!?!), and see how many planets you can inexplicably destroy with the streams of paint! This game makes absolutely no sense, whatsoever, but it's ever so pretty. If you've a Switch, and have downloaded SmileBASIC, you can grab a copy of the game using the Public Key...

I've a "thing" working in Petit Switch. It's a nice swirly thing that I thought was going to end up like Gravity Bombs, but Petit Switch seems to be struggling at rendering 2000 lines, at various widths and alpha transparency, with physics and gravity involved in those lines, in order to make a pretty picture!!

After each release, an influx of a comment bombards the pages of the site, and we get to see what people thought of the game. This week, RSKGames has decided to chip in, with thoughts of the gravity based, planet blasting game, Orbital Annihilation. You can play Orbital Annihilation here.

RSKGames

In Orbital Annihilation the player has to wait till the planets are aligned at the right positions in the orbits to fire and destroy the selected planet. Takes a bit of patience and timing to ...

So, what game's next? With all the Foldapuz development, my head's currently full of little puzzle game ideas that don't quite work (literally) on paper, so I expect the next game to end up being something to do with one of those ideas.

So, I scrapped the Sheep Herder engine, and started a new "time trial based" engine instead. I got a classic Thrust style gravity ship, popped it at the start of the track on the top left of the screen. Fire for Thrust and then left and right.

Developments

Not a lot of coding got done, yesterday. I continued to fiddle with the new sprites, and got enemies spawning in the level, but then I started thinking about iOS again. For the past year I've been focussing on OUYA. I've been making all my games controller happy, and as a result, have been neglecting touchscreen controls. I'm not sure why, probably all the AppleWatch stuff that's currently flooding my Twitter feed, but I'm finding myself somewhat nostalgic for the times that I s...

This week, I started out with a severely disturbing game idea, and ended up with a nice happy colourful arcade puzzle-type thing! <img src="https://socoder.net/AGAWGold_128.png" style="float:right;">AGameAWeek Gold delves through the Archive and plucks out any games that I've created, and have previously released on this day in history. Some days, there'll be something special. Some days, there'll be utter garbage! And on other days, there are no games at all!

For the next few days, until April 16th 2013, Sheep Goes Left will be half-price, over at the <a href="https://bit.ly/SheepGoesLeft">iOS AppStore</a>. To celebrate this random decision, here's...

A Brief'ish History of Sheep Goes Left

After SpikeDislike was released, one of the AppStore reviewers complained that there's no way to save your progress, and that the infinitely continuing level was an issue because there are no checkpoints, and no ending. .. Well, yeah...

The Plan! NeonPlat Classic is the original edition. If I hurry up and quickly build a version of that on iOS, I can get it released in time for my Birthday, then have a 24 hour giveaway like I did with SpikeDislike last year. The Realism For some reason I wasn't thinking about the "it takes a week to pass through review" thing. Stupid bloody Apple... Never mind. I'll probably do another SpikeDislike freebie day or something, instead. Meanwhile..

The year is new, but the logo's old. Sod it. I love this logo! I should be doing a year-long roundup thing, but I've not had much time, what with the whole Advent and stuff. No matter, there's been some good, and plenty of bad, and that's what AGameAWeek's all about!

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going. Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up. If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up. Anyhoo, this is a nice big lengthy re...
