Blockman Gets "Something" Spike Dislike JNKPlat 2018 Three classic AGameAWeek games that I really think should exist on the 3DS, more than anything. An Alien Deathmatch would be nice, too

Continuing my trek through the Blog, (fixing old broken links, adding references to associated games, etc) I'm now up to page... 150! Out of 5000+ As an example of how the Wiki will be grown, the Wiki page for Alien Deathmatch 2 is now nice and populated with just links to various blog posts. I'll also need to add in elements that are on the game's release page, but AD2's actually surprisingly sparse, as far as that goes. Once I've sifted through all the pages, adding in the ne...

As with all years, this year's had it's ups and downs. After last year's Gap-Year, it felt good to get back into the thick of things, and I started the year off with some rather odd ideas. As the year went on, the ideas fizzled out, and we got back into regular "Dodge the X, Collect the Y" territory, which is a bit of a shame. And then there was the EPIC disaster that is Gamma Collexion.

It's not very often that I add a title tune, but since Space Station A6-100 is a spiritual successor to Alien Deathmatch, and since Alien Deathmatch 1+2 both had a title tune, it seemed only sensible to remix the theme tune and bundle it in here, too. Each month I receive the wonderful Arcade Block from (URL "https://NerdBlock.com">NerdBlock.com) When you initially sign up, you give them a T-Shirt size, and every month you get a lovely Arcade related TShirt, along with a box full of odd pieces of tat. Some of the tat is garbage, some of the tat looks nice on a shelf, and occasionally some of the tat is pure awesomeage!

So, with all my games now missing from OUYA, it's time to start popping them all back on again. One by one, I'm opening old code, fixing up any issues, and getting the games updated to the newer framework. The new controller code is a piece of piss, since I did all that work in the Monkey Target part of Monkey. Essentially, I need only hit the recompile button, and the new controller code magically fits itself into the game. The tricky part is adding a "Quit Game" menu item to...

Things I should be doing. 1. A new Alien Deathmatch 2. A new RetroRaider 3. A new JNKPlat 4. That space-platformer-shooter thing 5. YBox Drops 6. SpikeDislike3 Each and every one is too large for a Weekly timescale, and as such, I've not started ANYTHING! They're all random unstarted ideas, waiting for "just the right time", but at the rate of AGameAWeek, there's never really going to be time to get around to them. Heck, I was supposed to do JNKPlat 2 years ago! I started it for the Xmas speci...

This week, I started out with a severely disturbing game idea, and ended up with a nice happy colourful arcade puzzle-type thing! Hurray for colourful splodges!! <img src="https://AGameAWeek.com/complete/Boxsplodings_20140401A_thumb.png"> <img src="https://AGameAWeek.com/complete/Boxsplodings_20140401B_thumb.png">

Over on the Monkey forum, a discussion about level data set me off thinking about making this post. Whenever I put levels into my games, I tried to keep them as small as I possibly can. I've been doing it this way for years, and always figured it's nice to compress my data into something that's easily shareable. .. True, I rarely ever get around to actually making these things easily shareable, but for the most part I try to keep things as minimal as possible.

The internet is a place for trolls and complainers (like me!) who like to gripe at every opportunity. For the most part, we tend to ignore these types, which generally means that comments sections have become largely ignored. Here at AGameAWeek, the opposite has happened. There are apparently no trolls daring enough to even attempt to play my games! I seem to have scared most of them away. As a result, there are no trollers or complainers here, and since those are the types that make up the 99% of the ...

So, here we go again. We're up to Year 5, and hopefully we'll get a full year out of it, this year (nnngh). With Monkey, we get a chance to go back over our previous games, and remake them for a new audience, with iOS, Android and Browser based versions. I expect this will prove to be an exciting year. Given that we can play at showing off, what games do you think would work best, and adapt well to the new touchy/mouse based gameplay options? Or, what games could prove to be an obscure tricky challen...

It's been over a year since the Platdude Retro Advent Collection had a bizarre game with a ball and some spikes in it, and as much as I've attempted to get on with other games, that one little game keeps on getting dragged back out again! Last week, SpikeDislike won an IndieVisibility award, for being the best game to have with you on the toilet! This week, the guy who nominated it for that award has written a great big sprawling mass of text, all about SpikeDislike! (Link no longer available) ...

I enjoyed my Month Off! I've written a lovely quickstart framework, I've built a game and a half, I've posted more Tube vids and Tweets in a month than any month previously, I've tried to keep up the blog, AND I even had time to relax!! A few games of GTA and Burnout meant my X360 was switched on for the first time in over a year! I've been playing YouDon'tKnowJack on the iPod (Highly recommended, even if it is Americanised questions), and listening to months worth of unlisten...

With all the Mac stuff, I've not had a chance to do a new game. NOOoooooo!!!!!! I suppose I could rush something in the next 24 hours, but I'm much rather be playing with those extra trimming, and getting things a little nicer. First off, Gravity Bombs. Not touched it yet, but it definitely needs at least one tweak. .. the Mac's "Superior" (bah) Magic Mouse has a lot going for it, but it also has an inability to right click whilst holding down the left mouse button. Which is pretty much a require...

Late last night, as I was half-asleep and reading through Twitter, <a href="https://twitter.com/komiga">@Komiga</a> asked me if I was going to be using any version tracking software for my lovely framework. My twittered response was limited (by lack of sleep, and also 140 chrs!!), so I figured I should explain it a little better. Last year, around about Alien Deathmatch/Centipong time, I built up my 2D-in-3D framework to work in Blitz3D. It worked wonders, and let me achieve a whole new abi...
