Our playable character is now spinning on the Fruit Bowl's edge!
-=-=-
Little by little, the game is becoming more and more like a game. There's still "something" missing, but it's getting fun to play with the silliness, even if there's no real point to it yet.
I've still not added baddies, and the Apples (or should it be bananas) still aren't exploding.
There's not really much of a difference between all the fruit, either. There likely should be different points or something? Not sure.
I dunno. It feels like "something" should be happening to this game, but at the same time.
... Nothing is happening!
Keep tweaking, Jay. You'll find a game in there, somewhere.
[chorus]
Round and round (We're going)
Round and around (Weee)
Round and round (Spinning)
Round and around (Yeah!)
[verse]
Holding on tightly as I'm spinning in circles,
Gonna keep round until I find my way out. (weeee)
The swirling is endless as the turntable's twirling,
And it's never gonna stop the spinning. Never gonna stop. (No!)
[break]
[chorus]
Round and round (We're going)
Round and around (Weee)
Round and round (I'm spinning)
Round and around (Yeah!)
Round and round (Keep going)
Round and around (Weee)
Round and round (Forever)
Round and around (Yeah!)
[break]
[bridge]
Why [beat] am I stuck [beat] on an end-less circle,
Watch [beat] as it spins [beat] it's an end-less circle,
Help [beat] stop the spinning of the end-less circle,
Stop [beat] someone get me off this end-less circle,
[chorus]
Round and round (We're going)
Round and around (Weee)
Round and round (I'm spinning)
Round and around (Yeah!)
Round and round (Keep going)
Round and around (Weee)
Round and round (Forever)
Round and around (Yeah!)
[break]
[verse]
Holding on tightly as I keep spinning round.
Feeling kinda drunk, maybe like I'm almost drowned. (weeee)
I can't seem to stop all the turntable's spinning
It's never gonna stop the spinning. Never gonna stop. (No!)
[break]
[chorus]
Round and round (We're going)
Round and around (Weee)
Round and round (I'm spinning)
Round and around (Yeah!)
Round and round (Keep going)
Round and around (Weee)
Round and round (Forever)
Round and around (Yeah!)
[Dave is meticulously arranging the game cassettes on the timeline wall, while Greenie listlessly wipes down the counter.]
Dave: (Beaming) Right then! Almost ready for the afternoon rush. Are you ready for another mad rush, Greenie?
Green: (Without looking up) It's Wednesday, Dave. Wednesdays seem to be our least busy day of the week.
Dave: Donโt be ridiculous. Data doesn't lie! Look, the Arcade gets its highest scores on Wednesdays.
[Matt enters, looking slightly windswept.]
Matt: Hey guys! Good to see you.
Dave: Matt! Fantastic! Come in, come in! We were just about to have a ScrunchCake break. You look like you could use one.
Green: No we weren't!
[Dave gestures to one of many empty tables, to which Matt sits.]
Dave: ScrunchCake? Weโs got the new Raspberry Ripple this week. Mrs Thompson really outdid herself.
Matt: Sure, ok. I'll give that a go. So how's things been?
[Dave runs over to the ScrunchCake fridges, to fetch a few of the new Raspberry Ripple ScrunchCakes]
Green: Chaotic. It's always chaotic when Dave's about.
Dave: [hands out ScrunchCakes] I think we're doing ok. The game part of the shop's a bit of a letdown, but the ScrunchCakes are selling like ..
Green: Hot cakes?
Dave: I was trying for something unusual.
Matt: These sausage cakes are unusual enough. How the heck do you mix Raspberries with Sausages, and not make it horrific?
Dave: Itโs innovation! We need to stay ahead of the curve, though. What do you think about Spaghetti ScrunchCakes?
Matt: Um.
Green: Seriously, Dave.
Dave: What?
Green: I liked it better when you used to waffle about coding all the time.
Matt: So, the games aren't selling?
Dave: Not really, no.
Green: His timeline is awfully complicated.
Dave: (Waving his hand dismissively) Nonsense! Everything is in the most perfect order.
Matt: It seems organised to me.
Green: It's only organised if you have a photographic memory of when every game, ever, was released.
Matt: Maybe eras would be easier to organise. Like, the experimental early days, the abstract era, the colourful era, things like that.
Green: That's much more sensible. You should come here more often!
Dave: Where would Jeff Minter's games go? That's all three.
Matt: Good point.
Green: So, how's things with you, Matt?
Matt: Honestly? It's kinda been dull. RCHomes isn't the same without Dave causing chaos every other day.
Dave: Hey!
