I posted two games yesterday. And the Patreon First game. AND another game!!!
-=-=-
Good grief, I feel like my head's melted after yesterday.
Once I got the FiveWords update uploaded, I remembered that I hadn't yet added Six Dice into the game archive, so I added that, and then unlocked the Rock Around the Sun game, meaning that I actually put 4 games into the archive, properly, yesterday.
Four!
That's mental!!!
*sigh* and relax.
So, yesterday I focussed on the "Make me a maze because I'm too tired to do it myself!" command.
The function works like a generative fill, crafting mazes on the tilemap starting from the co-ordinate given, and expanding outwards from there.
Thanks to Claude.ai, it can do a variety of different types of mazes, though I ended up having to code the Pacman maze type myself, because Claude's version was horrendous!!
I'm tempted to add dungeons into the mix, too, but I think I'd need an extra set of parameters so it defines rooms and such, so will likely make that its own separate command.
.. And, gosh, the commands are getting silly, now. The writeup will be intense for these!
Just LOOK at the state of that TileOutline command...
But you can't argue with the lovely walls it crafted. .. Well, you probably could.. And there's no external corners, either. Bah, humbug.
Right, I need to focus on this stuff and get it done, because there's still SO much to do with this new functionality.
*sigh*
So much to do.
[verse]
The tilemap engine's building up again.
The tilemap engine's growing all the time.
The tilemap engine builds a lot,
But I've still got tons to code on top.
The tilemap engine's getting some new tools.
[break]
[verse]
The tilemap engine draws a rectangle.
The tilemap engine fills it full of tiles.
And then some sprinkles on the top,
To make it look quite nice, a lot.
The tilemap engine draws a lovely square.
[verse]
The tilemap engine does a swirly line, now.
The tilemap engine makes a lovely path.
It even draws me little mazes,
Types that would've took me ages.
The tilemap engine does it all just fine.
[outro]
The tilemap engine seems quite powerful.
I wish I noticed this, long time ago.
Now I sit and wonder if,
I could add even more to this.
The tilemap engine seems quite powerful.
Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Tuesday Morning
[The shop is crazily busy, with people queuing up to try the new ScrunchyTea]
Green: I don't understand. I actually don't understand.
Dave: [triumphantly serving another ScrunchyTea] The people know quality when they taste it!
Green: It's beef stock and tiny meatballs! Through a straw!
Mrs Thompson: [rushing in] We're gonna need more sausages!!
Dave: See? It's like when a crazy YouTube video takes off - people just get it.
Green: No one should 'get' liquid sausages.
Customer 1: Is it true you're doing a gravy version?
Dave: [excitedly] Version 2.0 is still in beta testing!
Customer 2: What about a curry version?
Customer 1: Oooh, that sounds lovely.
Green: Oh good grief.
Dave: I'll look into it, but I'm not sure spices would work.
Mrs Thompson: David, can we just stick to the plain ones for now? We can barely keep up!
Green: [to customers] How are you all drinking this? HOW?
Customer 1: It's like bubble tea, but... meatier?
Dave: [beaming] That's exactly what I was going for!
[Mrs Thompson returns from the kitchen with more mini meatballs]
Mrs Thompson: The local butcher thinks you're mad.
Dave: Mad? Or innovative?
Green: Definitely mad.
Dave: You're just grouchy 'cos you haven't had your morning ScrunchyTea.
Green: My mind needs more caffeine than a cup of gravy would bring.
Dave: Caffeinated ScrunchyTea?
Green: Don't even..
