We're not having a month of Switch games.
We're having a month of "Toggle" games.
That's entirely different!
I started the first game, yesterday, since we're actually quite close to Monday, and next month I might be slightly sidetracked for ...reasons...
I woke up yesterday morning with "Toggle" in mind, so knew that the first game on the list would be a Foldapuz Toggle game. Except, how do you toggle paper?
And you can't draw onto, say, lights in a grid, because you then can't erase to essentially switch things either off or on.
That was quite a challenging prospect, but in the end with a little planning and some logic to keep things going, I eventually decided on a nice game idea.
... And then coded it, and prepared all the bits and pieces, and it's ready to go for Monday.
\o/yeay\o/
1 down, 3 to go.
.... *checks*
1 down, 4 to go. June has five Mondays. Stupid June...
What am I aiming for, then?
2 JSE, 2 Shoebox?
Or maybe 3 JSE and a Shoebox?
Or perhaps even mix in a FiveWords game? Haven't done one of those for a while.
I think FiveWords might lend itself to Toggle quite well, if I'm honest.
Speaking of which, I think it needs a "Start" button, with a description of the game. I keep accidentally opening it up and I'm forced to play because the timer's already kicked off!!!
So many thoughts flying about, right now. Good thing, though, 'cos otherwise I'd just be sitting here thinking about Switch 2's imminent arrival.
And I'm definitely not thinking about Switch..
I'm thinking about Toggle.
And that's entirely different.
[verse]
I'm making a switch. [beat] I'm jazzing it up.
I'm toggling over to another month.
I'm lighting things up. [beat] I'm making it dark.
[beat] I'm toggling it every week.
(Week!)
[chorus - chants]
Toggle me, Toggle me, Toggle,
Toggle me, Toggle me Off (Woo)
Toggle me, Toggle me, Toggle,
Toggle me, Toggle me On (Woo)
[bridge]
All of the toggles seem to be off or on,
There's nothing in the middle. (There's nothing in the middle)
It's either true or it's false, there's no mucking about.
There's only one or nothing. (There's nothing in the middle)
[break]
[chorus - chants]
Toggle me, Toggle me, Toggle,
Toggle me, Toggle me Off (Woo)
Toggle me, Toggle me, Toggle,
Toggle me, Toggle me On (Woo)
Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Friday Morning
[Dave is proudly displaying a large homemade poster, which he's placed above the computer game shelves]
Dave: Ta-dah! No more confusion!
Mrs Thompson: I think that might scare people off.
Dave: That's the point!
Green: It really isn't.
Dave: Well, I'm tired of explaining about old computers. If you can't understand that a cassette isn't going into your iPhone, then there's really no hope for you.
Green: Maybe it's because we're attracting too many younger ScrunchCake enthusiasts, more than we are old grumpy men like us.
Dave: There's nothing wrong with being a grumpy old coder.
Mrs Thompson: David, not everyone needs to know the entire history of the 8-bit universe.
[Dave adjusts the poster]
Dave: Not even with the little picture of a cassette deck?
Green: I used to have one just like that.
Dave: You still have it. I took that picture last night.
Green: Yesterday's customer would've loved that.
Mrs Thompson: In the month that we've been opened, you've had to refund about twenty games. Have I refunded for a ScrunchCake, yet? No.
Dave: That's because cakes make sense. You don't need special equipment from 1982.
Green: It wasn't special equipment, back then. It was the norm. Everyone had their own cheap knockoff unbranded cassette deck. It was awesome.
Dave: Those were the days.
Mrs Thompson: David, maybe we should focus on making the shop more welcoming?
Dave: [pointing at poster] This IS welcoming! Look, I even used comic sans!
Green: That's not better.
Mrs Thompson: If you think that "Attention : Historical Gaming Equipment Required" is welcoming..
Dave: Should I add an exclamation mark?
