Right then, one more game to do, and I think this'll be a Patreon First.
-=-=-
I never did finish last month's Patreon First game, did I?
Dang, I should probably go back and finish that off.
Let's look forward towards the next game, though, and sticking with this month's "Sun" vibe, how about we do something with gravity and planets and stuff?
So... "Rock around the Sun"?
We have a sun in the middle, and a planet. The planet starts off at a random point on the screen, and you need to drag a velocity to launch it.
The planet then orbits (or doesn't!) the sun.
And I think that's the entire game..!
There'll be more planets to fling, and your objective will be to not smash any, along the way.
I'm not 100% sure how to score this one, though, so if you've any suggestions, be sure to pop 'em in the comments or the Discord.
[verse]
Look up in the sky.
The stars surround you forever.
In a blanket of twinkling light.
They're lighting up the night.
Look up in the sky.
The moon is bright in the distance.
It's face lights up in the air.
I wonder if we could go there.
(In our rocket powered chair.)
[chorus]
Let's go. [beat] Blast off.
We're leaving the earth,
We're travelling far,
To the moon, tonight.
Let's fly. [beat] Go high.
We're gonna be space bound,
We're on an adventure,
To reach up there.
(In our rocket powered chair.)
[break]
[verse]
Look up in the sky.
Where all of the birds fly by.
They're getting an awful fright,
As we travel up high, tonight.
Look up in the sky.
The clouds will move out of our way,
As we thrust through the atmosphere,
Away from our homely sphere.
(In our rocket powered chair.)
[chorus]
Let's go. [beat] Blast off.
We're leaving the earth,
We're travelling far,
To the moon, tonight.
Let's fly. [beat] Go high.
We're gonna be space bound,
We're on an adventure,
To reach up there.
(In our rocket powered chair.)
[break]
[bridge]
The beautiful stars are surrounding us now, as we've blasted up high into space.
The rocket powered chair is a wonderful way to fly. Cuddling up with you here, so high.
I hold on tight to the steering column and hope that I know how to land,
Because otherwise we'll be smashed into pieces and that probably isn't what I'd planned.
(In our rocket powered chair.)
[chorus]
Let's go. [beat] Blast off.
We're leaving the earth,
We're travelling far,
To the moon, tonight.
Let's fly. [beat] Go high.
We're gonna be space bound,
We're on an adventure,
To reach up there.
(In our rocket powered chair.)
Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Wednesday Morning
[Dave and Mrs Thompson are surrounded by small flat cardboard ScrunchCake boxes]
Dave: So... which bit folds first?
Mrs Thompson: Well, when I worked at The Jolly Gateaux...
Dave: You worked at a cake shop?
Mrs Thompson: Yes, David, this isn't my first job.
Dave: I never knew you worked there. That's a very fancy cake shop.
Mrs Thompson: You never asked.
Dave: Have you worked anywhere else?
Mrs Thompson: I've had plenty of jobs over the years.
Dave: You've never said.
Mrs Thompson: Anyway, the boxes were different back then.
Dave: With those exquisite gateaux prices, I bet the boxes folded themselves!
Mrs Thompson: David, focus on the boxes.
[Dave manages to get a box folded up, but it's inside out]
Mrs Thompson: Well, you're definitely getting better.
Dave: Now if I could just do that the other way around.
[Dave walks to the opposite side of the table]
Mrs Thompson: I'm not sure that's the way to do it.
Dave: No, I just need to see things from another perspective. Then I'll find the knack.
Mrs Thompson: Look, this flap here needs to fit in there.
Dave: Yeah, I can definitely see it easier from this side.
Mrs Thompson: Et voila.
[A perfect box appears from Mrs Thompson's epic folding]
Dave: Wow, that's amazing!
Mrs Thompson: And that's the perfect size for four ScrunchCakes.
Dave: You'd better write that method down. I'll have forgotten it by mid-afternoon!
Mrs Thompson: Don't worry, I'll print out a guide or something.
Dave: Hurray!
[End credits roll as a mountain of previously poorly-folded boxes collapses]
