Over the past 3 or 4 days, we ordered a Gazebo, built the Gazebo, moved all the Living Room and Dining Room furniture into the Gazebo, then removed the huge 9x3.5 meters of carpet that were running the full length.
Uncle visited yesterday to help move all the furniture out of the bungalow, and today the fitters are arriving to lay the brand new carpet.
For the past week and a bit, me and Mum have had to shuffle bits of furniture to make enough clear space to then cut out a strip of carpet at a time, and we've been doing this over a few days, and then spent the next few days digging out all the staples in the floor as well as the carpet grips.
It wasn't until Uncle arrived yesterday to move all the furniture in one go, that we finally had a huge empty space. Mum and Uncle mopped and hovered the area, and all is now looking super lovely and clean and ready for the brand new carpet.
.. That is to say, no game-dev got done yesterday, and if you're wondering why the past week has been little nips and tucks to JSE and not much more.. .. That'll be that!
Any hopes of getting a game finished this week are well out the window. .. Thankfully there's a nice Gazebo out there, to keep the hopes of a game all snuggly and cozy.
If you've any suggestions for a theme for May, let them be known in the comments or the Discord..
[verse]
It's carpet time in the bungalow.
So we have to rip the old one out.
We'll use an epic bladed knife,
And chop the old carpet to pieces. (slash)
[chorus]
With a slash and a tug and a moving of the rug,
We will bag it all up into pieces.
Shuffle all the furniture around as we go,
'till the carpet's all gone away. (goodbye!)
And we're ready for the next one to arrive.
Let's hope it's as nice as it seemed in the shop.
[break]
[verse]
It's carpet time in the bungalow.
So we wait for the brand new carpet.
The fitters are arriving to cut all the tiny angles,
And ensure the carpet fits against the wall.
[chorus]
With a slash and a tug and a fit under the door,
We watch as the fitters lay it down.
Once they're done, and we're happy with their work
It's time to bring the furniture back in. (hello!)
And then shuffle it around until we're happy.
I wonder if the rug will go with it.
[break]
[bridge]
When all of this is over, we can have a little nap upon the couch.
(ooh the couch is really comfy for a nap)
Then we'll gather at the table for our dinner and admire the new carpet.
(all the hard work will be worth it in the end)
[chorus]
With a slash and a tug and a moving of the rug,
We will bag it all up into pieces.
Shuffle all the furniture around as we go,
'till the carpet's all gone away. (goodbye!)
Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Main Shop Floor - Evening
[Dave is pacing around the shop while Greenie, still in the bunny costume but with the head under his arm, watches from behind the counter. Mrs. Thompson is doing final touches to the window display.]
Dave: I'm not ready. I'm not ready.
Green: We're ready, Dave. Everyone's ready. [puts the bunny head back on] Bunny Foo-Foo says it's going to be fine.
Dave: Don't do the voice.
Green: [in a squeaky voice] But Bunny Foo-Foo loves you!
Dave: This is serious! What if nobody comes?
Mrs. Thompson: The local paper's journalist is coming. That's at least one person.
Dave: What if everyone comes? What if it's a riot like in those Black Friday sales things you see on telly.
Green: [still in Bunny voice] Then we sell lots of happy little ScrunchCakes.
Dave: What if we run out?
Sarah: [from kitchen] We've got three industrial freezers full!
Dave: What if the Sentinel malfunctions?
Mrs Thompson: Then we unplug it!
[Barbara enters with more decorations]
Barbara: These are the last of the balloons.
Dave: [panicking] We might need more balloons!
Green: [takes off Bunny head] We really don't.
Dave: But what if-
Mrs. Thompson: David, sit down.
Dave: I can't sit down! I need to check the Count Duckula 2 display again.
Green: Leave them alone.
Dave: But they're not symmetrical!
Barbara: They look fine.
Dave: Fine isn't good enough! This has to be perfect!
[A ScrunchCake launches across the room]
Green: [putting head back on] I think it's safer under here!
Mrs. Thompson: Yeah, unplug it.
Dave: But what if-
Barbara: It'll be fine, Dave. We're all prepared. Tomorrow will run swimmingly. There's no need to worry.
Dave: [slumping into a chair] I need a Coke.
Green: [in Bunny voice] Would you like a carrot instead?
Dave: I hate you so much right now.
