I say "Took the day off".. What I mean is, did a ton of rearranging in both my bedroom and my NAS.
A desk clearout, as well as the lower-half of the cube-shelves were tackled.
The recent influx of "Snack Box" boxes have come very much in handy, as now instead of a giant drawer full of mostly-unused gamepads, I now have 2 boxes of mostly-unused gamepads, and the drawer only holds the more "usable" ones.
.. Like, sure, it's nice to still have 4 Gamecube controllers, but realistically ... One is ok!!
People aren't exactly coming round all that often for multiplayer Billy Hatcher any more.
Same goes for Wii, X360, PS4 and more. Just a whole lot of controllers that, for the most part, will be going unused.
Most of the controllers, then, are now smushed together into Snack Boxes, and have been stacked in the corner of the room, freeing up "The drawer of Controllability" to become "The drawer of all the Stargate DVDs"
... .. Or rather, "The drawer of most of the Stargate DVDs, but holy crap have I got a lot of Stargate DVDs"
Meanwhile...
On the NAS side, I deleted all of the Computer Music and Future Music cover disk content from there, freeing up about 112Gb of space. The VSTs remain installed on the Mac, and separate backups of my most used VST installers have been preserved. On top of that, most of the sample packs went completely unused. I made a separate backup of all the interesting drumloops that I found along the way, (8Gb of those, stored on the Mac, duplicated on the NAS)
So... Yeah, that was a BIG delete.
I also deleted a ton of iOS backups, which totalled almost half a Tb, because .. I dunno, that's how you used to do it!!!
Lately everything's iCloud Backup based, for all the iPhings, me and Mum, and the iCloud backups are actually fairly decent filesize-wise.
[Verse]
I'm clearing out the garbage.
Deleting what is worthless.
Sorting out the storage options.
Making space where there was none.
I'm taking out the trash.
Putting things in smaller boxes,
Moving things around my desk.
I guess Spring Cleaning has begun.
[Chorus]
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Get it sorted out. (Make it all much neater.)
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Make it tidy. (Gotta make it better.)
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Get your duster out. (Move the dust around.)
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Sort it out. (Shuffle all of the D.V.D.'s)
[break]
[Verse]
My shelves have gotten messy.
I need to sort them out.
I'll shuffle round the objects,
That all clutter up the space.
D.V.D.'s get tucked in drawers.
Books are proudly placed.
Then little Lego figurines,
Take up the new found space.
[Chorus]
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Get it sorted out. (Make it all much neater.)
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Make it tidy. (Gotta make it better.)
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Get your duster out. (Move the dust around.)
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Sort it out. (Shuffle all of the D.V.D.'s)
[break]
[bridge]
Where on earth did I get all this stuff, it seems like it's grown and expanded.
I'm sure that I threw out a whole ton of junk, when we downsized to the bungalow.
Yet here I am, now, sorting through all the garbage, that seemingly doubled in size.
If this house had two floors, and this all was upstairs, a collapse wouldn't be a surprise.
[break]
[Chorus]
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Get it sorted out. (Make it all much neater.)
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Make it tidy. (Gotta make it better.)
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Get your duster out. (Move the dust around.)
Clean it up. (clean it up)
Sort it out. (Shuffle all of the D.V.D.'s)
Int. Dave's Street - Sunday Morning
[Dave peers through his curtains, watching Mrs Thompson carrying a tupperware container]
Dave: Lady Computer, commence Operation Follow The Cakes!
Lady Computer: *displays a big arrow*
Dave: No, not just a direction. The whole kit and kaboodle. This is investigative journalism!
[Dave grabs a container of his latest concoction, Scrunchoos, and heads outside]
Dave: I can follow Mrs Thompson. She's always got a large cake.
[Dave ducks behind various objects - bins, cars, lamp posts - following Mrs Thompson at what he thinks is a stealthy distance]
Dave: Seven stealth moves from two hiding spots!
[Mrs Thompson turns around suddenly]
Mrs Thompson: David Parker, I can hear you talking to yourself.
Dave: Oh! Hello Mrs Thompson! I didn't see you there. What a coincidence. I was just... taking my Scrunchoos for a walk.
Mrs Thompson: Are you going to the church fête, too?
Dave: Church... fête?
Mrs Thompson: Yes, dear. That church.
[Mrs Thompson points to a huge church a few doors away from where they're stood]
Dave: Oh, cool, there's a church.
Mrs Thompson: No need for the secret agent routine. Just be sure to bring something scrumptious!
Dave: Like my..
Mrs Thompson: No.
