I gave up on trying to come up with a new YouTube Trailer concept, yesterday.
I still think I have a vague idea in my head. Something that can be reused for multiple games without being "too" samey.
But as far as getting a trailer out for yesterday's game. I just couldn't quite figure out what it was that my head was trying to figure out!!
.. If that makes sense.
So, yeah, I gave up on it yesterday. A bit of a shame, really, as it's the first game of the year, and I think I could've done with a big YouTube launch.
Ho-hum.
So, anyway, what else is going on?
Well, I need to create a sound-generator tool for the JSE interface to help create oddities using that new Sound command that I may or may not have finished with. (I honestly don't know myself!!)
Once that's done, I'll get back to either one of the two "Adventure" games that I'm currently doing. One Shoebox, the other JSE.
I'm not really sure which one will be next Monday's game, right now. I guess it's whichever I have the more fun with.
I need to create some sort of "pickup" card for the Shoebox game, and the JSE one needs a ton of playability tweaks to hopefully find the right sort of movement style.
It's a lot harder than it looked, if I'm honest!!

Making a trailer for YouTube,
It isn't as obvious as what you'd believe.
Especially when the game that you made,
Is meant for pen and paper. (There isn't any action)
And maybe you could intersperse,
Some frantic scribbling clips,
But that probably won't make it,
Much more exciting. (kinda dull)
[chorus]
So maybe it's just not action-packed,
No explosions or wormholes, or dragons to attack.
But the thrill of solving a puzzle is just as real,
And on the paper, there's appeal!
[verse]
The video would be quite dull.
If there aren't even any funny sprites.
When the only action is a pencil mark,
Instead of rolling dice or a card.
Just scrawling pens upon a plain white page,
It's excitement, only if you're a certain age.
There isn't much going on upon your video screen.
So making a trailer of it would be quite mean.
[chorus]
So maybe it's just not action-packed,
No explosions or wormholes, or dragons to attack.
But the thrill of solving a puzzle is just as real,
And on the paper, there's appeal!
[outro]
Making a trailer for a paper game,
Might seem like it might be kind of lame,
But with the right touch, you're sure to know,
The excitement that just a pen could show.

Int. Dave's Computer Room - Morning
[Dave is staring sadly at his computer screen while Green reads over his shoulder]
Dave: They don't understand my genius.
Green: It's not your genius to rename everything to Bob. That was Bill's idea.
Dave: It's not just that! It removes the emotional attachment to appliances! How can you not want that?
Green: I'm not sure it does, Dave.
[Lady Computer displays "12 New Forum Responses"]
Dave: Look at this one - "Maybe stop drinking whatever you're drinking." What's that about?
Green: I think that might be the cola, Dave.
Dave: Don't say that!
[PC displays "Forum User DrTech123: Have you considered therapy?"]
Dave: Oh, come off it, Lady Computer.. Why do you keep showing me the bad comments?
Green: She probably got fed up with all the fractals. These are more fun, right, Lady Computer?
Dave: Fractals are cool.
[Dave slumps onto desk]
Dave: Why does nobody understand my quandary?
Green: Dave...
Dave: First the computer store incident, now this...
Green: That was over twenty years ago, and this is just a forum thread. They are in no way related.
[Matt appears in chat window]
Matt: Hey Dave, what's new?
Dave: They hate my program!
Matt: Hey Dave, what's new?
Dave: Not you too...
Green: Even Bill thought it was a silly idea, Dave.
Dave: We all agreed on Bob, yesterday.
Matt: OK, gotta go. Good chat, Dave! See you later, Greenie.
