I'm not doing Advent, so here's a game I made a few weeks ago.
-=-=-
This is one of the games I made from seeing what ChatGPT could come up with, just from the name of a videogame.
ChatGPT came up with this suggestion for "Earthworm Jim"
Control a worm-like line of stars that grows as it collects scattered cosmic "dust." Avoid touching your own tail or the screen edges.
Screen edges?! Who needs those?!
Stellar Sprawl
Controls
- Turn
.. That is all.
What I Didn't Do
Powerups, complications, difficulty, anything else..
Kind of a bland game, if I'm honest.
It was roughly this point where I started reading through the rest of the suggestions that ChatGPT gave me, and realised how bland and uninteresting the suggestions got after the first few interesting ones.
I kinda gave up following the ideas at this point, and was all but sure that Advent was all a bit of a waste.
Boooo...
[Verse]
The colourful snake runs all through the land, (glowing bright)
As the psychedelic stars all swirl around. (spinning light)
There's a pulsing beat, and a twinkling noise, (rhythm bound)
While the snake keeps beating through the cool night air. (never slight)
(The cosmic dance is out of sight!)
[Chorus]
Dance through the starlight, twist and turn, (flowing free)
A vibrant trail, as the colours burn. (what a spree)
The snake keeps moving, never slows down, (endlessly)
In a neon world where dreams abound. (can you see?)
(This glowing world is where to be!)
[break]
[Verse]
It slithers and glides through a cosmic haze, (shining bright)
Dodging and weaving in a sparkling maze. (what a flight)
Each star it collects adds a glowing hue, (pure delight)
Painting the night with a radiant view. (a wondrous sight)
(The stars are calling, hold on tight!)
[Chorus]
Dance through the starlight, twist and turn, (flowing free)
A vibrant trail, as the colours burn. (what a spree)
The snake keeps moving, never slows down, (endlessly)
In a neon world where dreams abound. (can you see?)
(This glowing world is where to be!)
[break]
[Verse]
From the deepest blues to the brightest gold, (colours shine)
Its journey's a story yet to be told. (so divine)
Through the pulsing beat of a cosmic sound, (bright design)
The snake keeps soaring, never bound. (by a line)
(A starry trail will intertwine!)
[break]
[Bridge]
The rhythm's alive, and the snake won't stop, (won't give in)
Through loops and swirls, it’s reaching the top. (dizzy spin)
The galaxy watches, a radiant show, (brilliant win)
As the snake creates a brilliant glow. (let’s begin!)
(The universe is deep within!)
[Chorus]
Dance through the starlight, twist and turn, (flowing free)
A vibrant trail, as the colours burn. (what a spree)
The snake keeps moving, never slows down, (endlessly)
In a neon world where dreams abound. (can you see?)
(This glowing world is where to be!)
[break]
[Outro]
Glide, little snake, through the endless night, (soaring far)
A shooting star in the fading light. (cosmic scar)
The journey's your own, a dazzling display, (what you are)
Through the stars, you'll forever stay. (superstar)
(Your glow will light the night's bazaar!)
[Dave's spare room. Dave is proudly showing off his new audio setup while Green watches skeptically]
Dave: Finally! The perfect wireless setup!
Green: Oh no. What have you done now?
Dave: Look, the record player feeds into this special Cola-modified speaker, which broadcasts to all the other speakers around the house!
Green: And you modified the speaker how exactly?
Dave: I painted it red and white. For luck.
Green: That's not a modification, Dave.
Dave: Sure it is! Just like my Cola-modified microwave!
Green: Your microwave just has stickers on it.
Dave: Cola-themed stickers! That's different.
[Dave's kitchen, surrounded by multiple speakers]
Dave: Now I can hear the music perfectly while getting Cola from the fridge!
Green: Is the fridge display meant to be flickering like that?
Dave: What? Oh no... NO!
Green: What's wrong?
Dave: The fridge's temperature control! It's going crazy!
Green: Probably interference from all these speakers.
Dave: But the Cola needs to be exactly 4.2 degrees!
Green: Maybe if you turned off some speakers...
Dave: Never! Music needs multiple sources! Otherwise you don't get the entire experience.
Green: The speakers are everywhere, though. There's no "sound placement", it's all over the place!
Dave: There's no experience at all, if the Coke fridge is going wonky.
[Living room, Dave frantically trying to fix everything]
Dave: If I move this speaker three inches to the left...
Green: The fridge display is still flickering.
Dave: But listen to how the music flows through the house!
Green: All I hear is echo.
Dave: That's not echo, that's acoustic enhancement!
Green: Pretty sure it's just an echo, Dave.
Dave: It's like a beautiful Cola waterfall! Cascading through every room!
[Back to kitchen]
Dave: Maybe if I wrap the fridge in tin foil...
Green: That's not going to help. Plus, how will you know it's a Coke fridge?
Dave: Hmm.. Maybe I could paint the tin foil?
[Checks the fridge display, which is now at least no longer fritzing]
Dave: The fridge is getting warmer! My precious Cola!
Green: I told you Bluetooth wasn't the best option.
Dave: I don't understand why Bluetooth would do this.
Green: Normally it wouldn't, but I think when you have a hundred speakers in every room, there's likely some kind of issue.
Dave: There's not that many.
Green: You have set up a lot of speakers, though. I'm surprised we're not being microwaved in here.
Dave: Quick! Help me move all these speakers!
Green: Or you could just use wires like a normal person.
Dave: Never! This is the future! A wireless Cola symphony!
