Yesterday was mostly spent with family.

My elderly Aunt and her healthcare worker both came around for a visit. Though my Aunt's visited numerous times since the move, her healthcare worker hadn't been to the bungalow since shortly after we moved in, and she remarked on just how much progress we'd made about the house.

old vs new

I mean, it's not "huge", but there's a bit more colour to the living room, there's a lot more light, and it definitely feels more "ours" than it previously did.
We still need to replace that carpet, but we're going to leave that until next Summer when we can have a nice (hopefully) sunny day, take all the furniture outside, get the carpet done, then bring everything back in again.
The carpet runs front to back, covering the living room and dining room in one big roll, so it's going to be a hefty job getting it all done.

...
Anyway, we chatted for a while about how much we'd (Mostly Mum and Uncle) had achieved in "just a short year", and though Mum is indeed proud of all she's done, she's still somewhat frustrated that the old carpet's still there, and the dining room hasn't really been tackled at all.
It takes time, all of this.

We have to keep reminding each other that the ceiling in the old house hadn't been tackled.. .. EVER!!! When we moved in, it had a suspended ceiling, which Mum immediately wanted to rip out, but we instead replaced all the ceiling tiles, painted the suspension rails and left it there.. And every year, it was either repainted or new tiles were bought, and ... year after year, the "rip it out!" never happened.
And 37 years later we moved out, leaving the bloomin' thing in there!!!
Here, the living room ceiling has already been done, as part of the living room chaos of the past couple of months.

It's done.
Within a year, compared to not being done in 37 years.

And there's loads of examples of that around the bungalow.
Things we'd forgotten about, that my Aunt's Healthcare Worker kept pointing out.
We've achieved SO much in just a year that it's kinda interesting to see it all through a fresh pair of eyes.

.. And that's roughly how yesterday went.
Chitting and Chatting, then some TV Soaps, and all the rest of that "social" kind of stuff.
No time for coding, I'm afraid.

(I opted to remove the depressing bridge that I wrote, which was about feeling useless whilst Mum did all the work.. Kinda got a bit grumpy..)
