I spent most of yesterday playing with the A.I.s to get a bunch of phrases ready for the typing tutor.
-=-=-
For the most-part, things worked well enough.
I had to double check all the phrases using my own little scripts, to ensure they followed the rules properly. .. We all know how badly the AI's can hallucinate.
The A.I. kept throwing the word "the" into all manner of phrases, so things like "Phrases that can only be typed with the Home Keys" kept ended up with things like "Dad adds the lads flasks", which obviously can't be typed without using t and h.
And on and on that went, because the TYGHBN keys are some of the last keys that the tutorial is going to be teaching.
So, I have about 5 or 6 lists that were all full of "the"s that I needed to flick through and replace words and even entire phrases.
I'm now left with the job of scanning the entire list of phrases, ensuring that they all makes some kind of sense (as awkward as some of the phrases might feel) and ensuring nothing's too insensitive. (I've had to remove a lot of ... troubling phrases, already)
I've also got to completely rewrite a bunch of the later phrases, as they're completely disobeying the rules entirely. Which is frustrating because I really wanted this to be an easier job than it's becoming!
Bah, humbug.
Silly A.I.'s rubbish at this.
I might have to fire them all.

[Dave is staring blankly at his computer as Greenie walks in]
Green: Hey hey!
Dave: Hey hey?
Green: Yeah, I dunno. Trying out catchphrases to see what might work.
Dave: Come on, Greenie, you know you already have the world's best catchphrase.
Green: I do?
Dave: "I don't think that's a good idea, Dave."
Green: True. ... What's not a good idea?
Dave: The A.I. isn't working this morning. It says it needs more credits.
Green: Have you tried, maybe, paying for the A.I.?
Dave: Paying? Don't be silly. With all the computer power we have, combined in this building, I thought I might try making some sort of network A.I. that everyone can install.
Green: I'm in two minds as to whether that's a bad idea or not.
Dave: Right!
[Scene Two]
Ext. RC Homes
[Three fire engines are at the scene, as smoke plumes from the building]
Matt: I don't think that was a good idea, Dave.
Green: I agree.
Dave: Who could possibly have..
Joe: We all did, Dave. We all saw this coming.
[A firefighter emerges through the crowd]
Fireman: It's mostly smoke damage, but it seems the fire was started from..
Green: Dave's apartment. It was Dave's apartment.
Fireman: [nods] Yes, it was Dave's apartment. Again.
Matt: You know Dave..
Dave: I know. I really need to get that Cola-based Fire Sprinkler working.
Matt: That isn't what I was going to say.
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's Apartment
[Dave is dusting away a thick layer of soot from his desk]
Dave: Time to rebuild. What shall we go for, this time? Windows XP or Vista?
[He reaches up to his CD shelf]
Dave: Ooooh, Windows 95. I wonder how that might cope with the A.I. revolution.
[Dave opens the CD tray of his computer, and gives it a dusting before popping in the CD and forcibly pushing the tray shut]
Dave: OK, Let's Start!
[End Credits as the computer struggles to boot, blowing mountains of soot from its fan]
