I spent most of yesterday tweaking JSE a little more.
-=-=-
Here's the current todo list of things I still have to todo.
1. More Particle Styles (So Far : Minty)
I'm currently trying to decide what kinds of particles could be useful, and the best ways to make those happen.
2. Predefined Spritesheets
This one's complex in a "I can't draw, how do I offer predefined sheets?" sort of way.
I also don't want Whole Spritesheets, either. You might've drawn two or three sprites, and then having a whole spritesheet overwrite that would be frustrating.
A pick and choose library of sprites might be the best way to go.
But I'd have to draw 'em all, first!!!
3. GUI commands
These would be handy, I think, maybe.. But maybe not. I dunno.
What do you think?
Would YOU use GUI commands?
4. Image Buffer
Dan over at SoCoder seems adamant that Image Buffers are super important!
During the July Creative month, I did find myself using the SetBuffer BG a fair amount, so I guess... Sure.. ok, might be handy.
I'm just not sure how to go about it.
It shouldn't "too" hard to do, though, given that BG buffer already works well enough.
5. Functions
Hmm.. Yeah... Hmmm.
It might not be as hard as I'm thinking it might be, but it might be, so hmmm.
6. Sound Gradually Delays ..?
I don't really know why this is happening, nor whether it's a MacOS Beta issue or what, but the longer I spend in JSE without a refresh, the more delayed the audio becomes.
7. Could I do a menu or something for "Download HTML5 Project" when you've got multiple projects
And this last one's a more complex affair.
When you Download HTML5 Project, you can bundle multiple files of code into the MyGames folder, and ... They won't do anything.
Sure would be nice if they could.
This is definitely a more complicated thing to handle.
So, yeah, a nice big hefty set of things that I need to do.
If you'd like to add more to the list, be sure to let me know in the comments.
[Dave is hunched over his laptop, scrolling through Amazon listings. Green is peering over his shoulder, looking increasingly distressed.]
Dave: Alright, Greenie. Let's find you a proper computer that won't keep you up all night rebooting.
Green: But Dave, my 186 has sentimental value. I wouldn't get rid of it.
Dave: Greenie, your computer is almost as old as I am. It's time for an upgrade.
Green: [sighs] Fine, but they're all so tiny. Where would I put my punched cards?
Dave: Welcome to the 21st century, mate. We don't use punched cards anymore.
Green: But without punched cards, how will I feel like I'm actually doing something?
Dave: Trust me, you'll be doing plenty. Look at this one - it's got more processing power than your entire mainframe, in the palm of your hand.
Green: I bet that'd be easy to lose.
Dave: Easy to lose? What are you doing with it!?
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's apartment - 30 minutes later
[Dave is still scrolling, while Green paces nervously]
Dave: How about this one? It's got a retro design. Might make you feel more at home.
Green: Does it shoot lasers across the room?
Dave: Again, that's vacuum cleaners, not computers.
Green: [sarcastically] Pity. At least that would've been exciting.
Dave: Unlike your current setup that keeps you up until 5 AM?
Green: Six. It was six am.
Dave: Sorry, six.
Green: Anyway, late nights are part of the charm.
Dave: Yes, and the fact that 95% of your energy bills are for powering it, that's also part of the charm, right?
Green: It's not my fault that all my important data requires at least a 13 Megabyte Harddrive.
Dave: That's not a lot.
Green: MEGA Bytes Dave.. Thirteen MEGAbytes!
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's apartment - An hour later
[Dave looks exhausted, while Green is examining the laptop screen closely]
Green: Wait, go back to that one.
Dave: [scrolling back] This one?
Green: Yeah. It's... not terrible.
Dave: [sarcastically] High praise indeed.
Green: Does it come in beige?
Dave: Modern computers don't come in beige anymore.
Green: [sighs] Fine. I suppose I could spray paint it myself.
Dave: That's the spirit! So, shall we order it?
Green: On one condition.
Dave: What's that?
Green: We keep my old 186 as a backup. You never know when we might need to reboot the entire flat in 13 hours.
Dave: [facepalms]
[End credits roll with Dave triumphantly clicking "Order Now"]
