Claude AI is a powerful little chatbot.

Yesterday I asked Claude a few things about word games and concepts and things like that. We got into a nice back and forth, and then I asked it. "Hey, Claude. Any idea how I can make my Scrabble-clone computer player any better?"

Claude gave me a few handy tips, and even wrote a small chunk of code.
It wasn't perfect.
Heck, it was far from perfect, and in fact is incredibly rubbish in a hundred-or-so ways, but the thing is, I already have a working AI Scrabble player.
But the "find a place" piece of my script is stupidly slow.
What Claude wrote, though dumb and incredibly rubbish, is at least workable in a way that if I combine it with my word-placement checks, and dictionary checks, as well as scoring stuff..
Well, all of that stuff runs really fast.

The code that Claude wrote combined fairly well with my own stuff, and ..
"Hey, we make a great team"
To which Claude replied "Subscribe to Pro for more conversation."

Isn't that always the way.
You really know who your friends truly are, once they start charging you for their time.

*sobs*

Today I'll see if I can finish that off, and then probably play about 20 or 30 rounds of "Crossword definitely isn't a Scrabble Clone" to see just how good our little baby A.I. performs.
Hopefully it's not terrible.

Currently Claude's code only starts wherever there's already a letter, so that needs tweaked a bit. I'm also going to add scoring to the scanning routing. Have a sort of cost analysis when placing words, so if the computer places a Q or a Z, it should be sure there's a decent score in return.. Things like that.
I might get Claude to see if it can do some of that, but that depends on whether it wants to talk to me any more.
*shrugs*

After that, I'll poke and prod for more word game ideas. I think we might've been onto one, but I ended up switching to the Crosswords game improvements instead.
Poor little Claude must've been confused.
That's probably why he told me to pay up.
Right?
