I finished off this week's ALChoon, first. It includes a very feint recording of the old Ice Cream van that used to drive around the street at our old house.
I actually recorded it about a decade ago, using the iOS App Yellofier. The little happy ice cream van is one of very few things I've recorded using that app, but it always amuses me to listen back to it.
I should probably use that app more often.
I wasn't planning on using it, but this week I found that the lovely gentleman who drove that very ice cream van sadly passed away. I ended up using it, then, as kind of a tribute. Farewell, Kandyman.
May all your Funny Feet be at rest.
[Dave is excitedly showing Green his computer screen. The paper mache rabbit in the corner now has a spreadsheet taped to its face.]
Dave: Behold, Green! My greatest creation yet!
Green: [Squinting at the screen] What am I looking at exactly?
Dave: It's my new Rabbitsheet! Or maybe Spreadbunny? I haven't decided on the name yet.
Green: Dave, mate, that's not a database. It's barely even a spreadsheet.
Dave: Who cares about databases? This is the future of data organization!
Green: The future of data organization is... rabbit-shaped cells?
Dave: Exactly! It's like Excel had a baby with Bugs Bunny!
Green: I'm sure people will love it.
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's apartment - Later
[Dave is still working on his computer while Green looks on, bewildered]
Green: Dave, I thought you were working on a spreadsheet-to-database converter?
Dave: I was, but you daren't stop when inspiration hits! You have to go with the flow of the spreadsheet. Why convert spreadsheets when you can reinvent them?
Green: As rabbits?
Dave: Not just any rabbits. Each cell is a unique bunny with floppy ears that move when you enter data!
Green: [Sarcastically] Oh brilliant. Animations in a Spreadsheet. Exactly what the world needed.
Dave: See? You get it!
Green: No, Dave, I really don't.
[Dave clicks a cell and a bunny wiggles its puff-ball tail]
Dave: Yeah!!
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's apartment - Evening
[Dave is putting the finishing touches on his Rabbitsheet/Spreadbunny while Green watches, resigned]
Dave: Look, Green! When you sum a column, all the rabbits hop in unison!
Green: [Sighs] Sometimes I miss the days when you just collected cola cans.
Dave: Oh! That gives me an idea! What if each rabbit cell could store a virtual cola can?
Green: Dave, go home.
Dave: I am home!
Green: Then I'm going home. Call me when you've come back to reality.
[Green leaves as Dave continues to work on his Rabbitsheet/Spreadbunny, humming "Bright Eyes"]
