At first I envisaged some sort of knot-based fiddling with the Wire/rope from the other day, but once I tried to figure out how to get that to work, I ended up tying myself up in knots trying to come up with a good way to do it.
I considered some sort of tessellation puzzle that could be rotated to create paths, but again that just seemed to go nowhere.
In the end, I opted for a traditional "Locomotion" style sliding-block puzzle. Simply make a path from the starting point on the left, to any point on the right, and you win the puzzle.
It's not hard. It's not clever. It's kinda lazy.
But it's a toy, so that's ok, and it's at least interactive.... Hurray for that.
[Dave is on his hands and knees, surrounded by a tangled mess of cables. Greenie enters, sipping a Coke]
Greenie: (bemused) What are you up to now?
Dave: (frustrated) I'm trying to sort out this cable nightmare. It's worse than when I accidentally trailed that wire all over the computer store.
Greenie: (sarcastically) Oh yes, your famous shopping spree. Didn't that end with you legging it out of the store?
Dave: (defensively) It was an accident! I just got... overexcited.
[Dave pulls out a cable]
Dave: Is this the charger for my Orange SPV phone?
Greenie: (peering at it) Dave, that phone's ancient. Why do you still have it?
Dave: (nostalgically) It reminds me of simpler times, when I only short-circuited one device at a time.
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's Flat - Afternoon
[Dave is now completely tangled in cables. Greenie is trying not to laugh]
Dave: (muffled) A little help here?
Greenie: (chuckling) You look like you've been attacked by a giant electronic octopus.
Dave: (sarcastically) Oh, very funny. At least I'm trying to tidy up. Remember when we had to get shelves just to organize my stuff?
Greenie: (nostalgically) Ah yes, the great shelf disaster of '22. Good times.
Dave: (struggling) Can you just help me out of this?
[As Greenie tries to untangle Dave, there's a spark]
Dave: Ow! Not again!
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's Flat - Evening
[The room is somewhat tidier, but Dave looks frazzled. Matt enters]
Matt: (looking around) Wow, what happened here?
Greenie: Dave decided to wrestle with technology again. It won.
Dave: (proudly) Hey, I made progress! Look, I even found my old fractal processing program.
Matt: (confused) Fractal processing? Is that like when you messed up the hospital computers?
Dave: (defensively) That was different! This is art... sort of.
Greenie: (to Matt) Be careful where you step. Last time there was a loose wire, someone ended up inside a PC.
Dave: (sighing) Maybe I should just stick to drinking Coke. It's safer than technology.
