Summer's really kicking in, this week. And yes, I know that "hitting the low 20's" isn't what other countries call hot, but here in Britain we're just not used to this. If it's not raining or snowing, then it's at least partially cloudy.
But we've at least got the fans running, and they're helping us a ton.
Mum bought one of those magnetic door net things to cover the kitchen door, and we've got a large net covering the patio door.
Nothing on the front-door yet, but I expect it won't be too long before we get that, too.
You know what's not great?
Having installed the MacOS Beta, it's running my laptop hot, whilst the summer heat is also heating up the laptop!
Where it usually sits snuggly around 28 degrees (according to Hot) it's currently sitting about the 37 degrees mark.
It's nice and warm upon my lap, but right now I'd rather it be the stone cold metal that it normally is!!
Perhaps I should leave the betas for the winter months. Which are traditionally the other 11 months of the year.
[Dave is standing in front of his electrical outlets, looking perplexed. The fan is still running, and the computer remains unplugged.]
Dave: (to himself) Okay, time to face this electrical dilemma once and for all.
Green: (entering) Still struggling with the plugs, Dave?
Dave: Yeah, it's driving me nuts. I need my PC, but I also need my Coke fridge and this fan.
Green: Why don't you just get a power strip?
Dave: (gasps) Green, you're a genius! Again!
[Suddenly, they hear a meow and scratching at the door]
Dave: (sighing) Oh great, that cat's back. Probably with more future newspapers or something.
Green: (chuckling) Focus, Dave. Let's solve one problem at a time.
[Scene Two]
Int. Joe's Computer Shop - Afternoon
[Dave and Green enter the shop, looking around for Joe]
Dave: Joe! You here?
Joe: (popping up from behind a counter) Oh, hello Dave. Green. What can I do for you?
Dave: I need a power strip. The beefiest one you've got.
Joe: (raising an eyebrow) Beefiest? Planning to power a small country, are we?
Dave: (laughing nervously) No, no. Just my PC, Coke fridge, and new fan. Oh, and maybe a few other things.
Green: Like that ridiculous Cola bike [2].
Dave: Hey! That bike is essential!
Joe: (shaking his head) Alright, I think I have just the thing for you.
[Joe disappears into the back room and returns with a massive power strip]
Joe: This should do the trick. It's got surge protection and everything.
Dave: (eyes widening) It's beautiful!
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's room - Evening
[Dave is on his knees, carefully plugging devices into the new power strip. Green watches from the couch.]
Dave: (excitedly) PC? Check. Coke fridge? Check. Fan? Check. Cola bike? Check!
Green: I can't believe you actually plugged in that bike.
Dave: Hey, you never know when you might need an emergency Cola ride!
[Suddenly, the lights flicker and there's a loud buzzing sound]
Dave: (panicking) Uh oh. Maybe I shouldn't have plugged in the coffee maker too.
Green: Dave! Unplug something before you blow a fuse!
[As Dave scrambles to unplug devices, they hear a familiar meow at the door]
Dave: (groaning) Not now, cat! We're having an electrical crisis here!
Green: (laughing) Maybe it's trying to deliver tomorrow's paper with the headline "Local Man Causes Blackout with Cola Obsession" [5].
Dave: (unplugging the bike) Very funny, Green. There, crisis averted.
[The buzzing stops and the lights stabilize]
Dave: (sighing with relief) Well, at least we solved the plug problem. Sort of.
Green: And all it took was nearly burning down the building.
Dave: (grinning) Just another day in the life of Dave, eh? Now, who wants a cold Coke?
[They both laugh as Dave reaches for the fridge, the credits starting to roll]
