JSE - Sound Library Extras .. Almost
Blog
22nd June 2021
I spent most of yesterday digging through a Sound Effect library.
-=-=- After a LOT of hunting, I found that the site Sonniss.com gives away sample packs each year. Their GameAudio GDC page has a set of ever increasingly large sample packs available. Most of the pack are too big for me to faff about with, but I downloaded the smallest 2015 pack, and set about going through it. Making use of Amadeus Pro, (Charles was right, it's nice and simple, and seems to suit me down to the ground) I let it Batch Process the lot of them, reducing them to 22050/16bit/mono, deleted everything that was insanely large, and started to dig through them all one by one, chopping out suitable sounds to add to the JSE library. In the end, I had just over 50 sounds, from the initial collection of... hundreds!! I normalised the results, ensured they still all sounded good, then ran them through my combiner script, which takes raw wav data and fits them all together to produce a lengthy single "sound-sheet" that JSE then makes use of. .. And that's where everything broke. It seems that Amadeus Pro is adding stuff inside the .wav file's header which my combiner script isn't taking account of. Today I need to open a few files up in a hex editor, figure out exactly what's going on, and hopefully get things running again. Once that's sorted, I should be able to upload the new sound library, with oodles of clunks, thuds, cracks, snaps and other such random noises included. *phew* |update| The Sonniss sounds are now available in JSE |update| Views 123, Upvotes 19
