Messing About With a Handheld

Although I've had to wrangle quite a few bits around, and tweak various settings here and there, for the most-part, my Emulation Archive now has a new home on the GPD xd.

There's a weird little timing issue in the CPC emulator, causing a lot of the audio to play intermittently, and I seem to be seeing it elsewhere, too.
As such, I'm not 100% sure what's causing it, or where. Whether it's a system-wide quirk, or something specific to the emulator.
As with most "Home-Computer" emulators, though, the lack of a real keyboard is a bit of a let down. My favourite of all handheld CPC emulators is still the one I had on the Nintendo DS, mostly because the second screen's full keyboard made for a really functional experience.

Anyway, that wasn't the real reason I bought it. It's nice to have all that, but in reality the system was bought for AGameAWeek Android Testing, and I'm happy to say it works flawlessly.
As seen in yesterday's post, the thing hooked into my DevKit without a hitch. No installs, no nothing. Just plug it in, hit F5, and the game popped on over.
I then tested downloads from the archive, and those worked great, too.
Use the inbuilt browser to navigate to my Archive, click on the Android TV icons, and it'll download and install the .apk, ready to play.
A slight issue is that my games are initially showing up in the Applications section instead of the Games section, but luckily the GPD lets you change that. (Simply hold down the icon, then tap the Move button)

So, if you want Portable AGameAWeek, with proper controllers and everything, (and I must say, the two little thumbsticks are GORGEOUS!!) I highly recommend the GPD xd.
Although, if I'm honest, any "Android with Controllers" device should work sufficiently.

Meanwhile..

I got a nice amount of gameplay working, yesterday, but after I decided "That's enough for now", I had a few more gameplay thoughts!
That'll all have to be done, later on tonight.
For the rest of today, I'm going to work on SoCoder2, which got completely ignored, yesterday!!
First day of ignoring it since I started this project.
