Yesterday I spent ages rejigging the Flickr BBCode over on Socoder.

The issue was down to the Flickr code.
Flickr's "easy" way to link to a picture results in a "Slideshow" box appearing around the photo.
The slideshow box isn't too intrusive so I left it where it was for the meantime.
Unfortunately, as I posted more and more Flickr images into the same topic (the Arcade Block images,in particular), the resulting multiple-slideshows caused my browser to slowdown drastically.
Each time a new Arcade Block arrived, I had to battle with the bloomin' thing, just to get it displaying properly.

Last month, I attempted to fix it by signing up for a Flickr API code, and trying to get some kind of basic PHP-based functionality going.
Then I gave up!
Yesterday, instead of doing things Server-side, I opted to try doing things Client-side and using Javascript.
The Javascript version worked out wonderfully well, with me being able to simply make use of Flickr's XML output, search that for the right image urls, then replace the BBCode with those urls.
It's a teensy bit slow when there's a lot of images, but it's only slow-load-time, and not the system-wide slowdown that it was before.
I call that a win!
