Developments


You know what I really love?
Complicated stuff that I don't quite understand, and figuring things out as I go.

Yesterday I started to delve into BlitzMax's "Audio Sample" functions.
I originally tried using an external app to strip a piece of music into chunks, then loading them into memory that way.
It was slow, and useless, and not quite good enough for use.
Instead, then, I loaded the music into memory, and used a whole new (to me) set of commands to chop it up, directly in BlitzMax.



A whole lot of trial and error along the way, but I'm pretty certain I've managed to get it working the way it's supposed to be, now.
It looks about right, anyway!

I now need to delve deeper into the complexities of the values I have, to see if I can manage to generate more forms of soundscapes and things, but for now it's "functional", and that's good enough.

Oh, and I made some progress on this week's game, but that's most certainly shifted to being a background task!
.. oops!
