2007 - Thrusteroids



Back in 2006/7, I curiously decided to experiment with Blitz3D. I'd had it for a number of years, but knowing my lack of 2D art skills, was afraid to dare attempt anything in 3D.
But dare I did, and for a very brief period I churned out a couple of really odd experiments in 3D.
They're nearly all garbage.

I haven't done much in 3D since!

Thrusteroids takes the premise of the classic 8-bit game Thrust, but instead of being planet-based, I opted to make the landscape an ever rotating asteroid.
Might as well do something with the 3D!!

In terms of gameplay, this is mostly lacking due to my skills and knowledge in the world of 3D.

Aw, heck, this is just garbage, to be honest!
The collision detection is none-existent, there's no enemies, it controls like crap.
It's ..
Bah!!

A nice idea, poorly executed by a guy who wasn't quite sure what he was doing with the technology.

If I attempted this again, today, I'd probably do a 2D gameplay engine, with a 3D overlay.
.. or maybe not even attempt the 3D part, and keep it all in 2D.
I like 2D!!!
