Platfire 2!
Blog
24th March 2009
A long forgotten game gets a remake today.
Platfire was originally made, way way back in Wednesday Workshop #2!! To be fair, #1's probably the better game, style wise. (As in, it wasn't rushed within a few hours, since yesterday!!) But Platfire 2 is in the "It's super hard, and you won't get much of a score" style that I seem to be leaching onto, these days. Views 69, Upvotes 10

What a year, eh! I decided to round off the year with a nice big, old fashioned list, with everything in it. Except this doesn't have everything in it, because I've forgotten to add the DS games.. I'll do that later!! (Took me about 3 hours to do this, so I'm not going to tweak it, now!!) Views 34, Upvotes 9

Next up, Countdown..
Or, it's meant to be, but I can't seem to get it started properly.. I've grabbed a batch of Carol's letters and numbers, and I've got the vowel/consonant packs ready, the number solver's working as it should, but so far, those bits haven't come together to make a full game.. It's just bits here and there. Needs work, but with Xmas literally days away, I'm not sure that it'll get any. If it doesn't turn up on Tuesday, assume I'm taking the week off, from AGameAWe... I'm not ignoring it!!!
I woke up late, today, and time seemed to slip away fairly rapidly.. I spent about an hour browsing online shops, buying a cheap copy of Sonic Unleashed for only £20 (Gamestation) and an el'cheapo Digital Photoframe (£30 Aria.co.uk), and then surprisingly it was time to settle down, eat, and then go to work. Where my time went, I don't know!! Still, I did post the demo yesterday, so that's ok. Meanwhile I think I've figured out ... Views 60, Upvotes 12

Ball Up!

This week's Wednesday Workshop <a href="https://socoder.net/?Workshop=Challenge&Week=173">#173</a> was a redoing of an old one. Wednesday Workshop 1 asked us to make games using only 5 objects onscreen.
Rather than doing that, I opted to take my original 5 object game, and remake it, turning it into a slightly more interesting game. It's still not anything amazing, but at least it's something! <a href="https://socoder.net/uploads/1/ballup.png"><img src... Views 115, Upvotes 11

This week I decided to remake Centipong, this time for the DS.
It's pretty much the same as it's always been, except now it's portable, stylus playable, and has the pickups unlike the Mobile edition. It's not all 100% yet, though.. More to come, and plenty of tweaking to be made. <img src="https://agameaweek.com/completeB/2008/Centipong_20081202A_thumbb.png"> In the meantime, you can <a href="https://agameaweek.com/?Game=40">Download Centipong DS here</... <a href="https://socoder.net/?Workshop=Challenge&Week=164">Wednesday Workshop #164</a> suggested we should make a game using vector graphics. I took this opportunity to remake the fantastic Dos game, Boogaloopers!
Move the ship around with your mouse, and trap enemy within it's trail. Nice and simple gameplay-wise, but a complete git to get working code-wise! Not only did I have to figure out the points that the mouse crossed the trail, but then do that whole polygon-shrinking t... Views 120, Upvotes 16

Retro Remakes are holding a Top Down 2D Dungeon challenge.
Socoder are holding a Remake a Workshop Game challenge. In a way, these two coincide, since I'd already decided to remake Greenie's Gameboy (URL "https://socoder.net/index.php?a=15&e=94"><img src="https://socoder.net/workshop/dlds/023/greenie.gif" align="right" /> Views 95, Upvotes 18

Greenie!
Blog
22nd October 2007
Most of my remakes seem to fall into a single category, in that they all tend to feature my character Greenie.
To be honest, I'm not sure why I started doing this. It was never something I planned, it just kind of happened that way! Still, here's a whole page dedicated to that stupid bumbling idiot! Green's 8-bit Tiny CollectionBlitzCoder, 2005. The 8-bit compo asked us to create games in a 8-bit style. No more than 20 sprites, all of which were 2 colors, and 8x8 p...Views 142, Upvotes 21
