Sheep Goes Right - The "Grrrr" Edition Blog
10th December 2013
Sheep Goes Right, or at least a minor version of it, is now available on OUYA.

It isn't finished. There's a lot more of it that I've made, and a lot more I've yet to add, but something annoying has happened in the past few days.

-=-=-

"Oh My Goat" has turned up, and for all intents and purposes, it's pretty much a clone of Sheep Goes Left.
The sheep moves, the jump button jumps, and you make your way through the levels.
Oh, sorry... Goat.. Because, in no way is this a rip off of my two year old game.
Anyone can make a game about creatures moving along, going baa, and jumping over obstacles. It's definitely not a rip off.

Looks lovely. Great art style. Bravo, devs.
And as such, it's getting rave reviews, and doing really well.

... Thing is, I'm only halfway through making the sequel to Sheep Goes Left.
And seeing "definitely not Sheep Goes Left" has put an annoying spin on things.

If I now release Sheep Goes Right, everyone (and I mean EVERYONE!) is going to be saying "well, he's just ripping off that Goat game, isn't he!!?"

And that pisses me off.
Because, fuck no, I bloody well haven't!!

And now I'm stuck in this annoying scenario, where I'd LOVE to finish off Sheep Goes Right, but I just know what'll happen when I do, and that's really disheartening given all the work I've so far put into it.

Bah... (Baa!)

So, I've bundled up a mini-edition of the game.
There are 4 worlds, 20 levels, and a few little obstacles to avoid.
The game is available on OUYA.

If you can, play the game, and stick your feedback below.
Let me know how easy or hard it was.
Let me know if you liked it at all!
And let me know if you think I should carry on. Because, as much as I want to, I also don't think I could take the inevitable claims of "rip off" that are going to come my way.

.. And give Oh My Goat a go, too. It looks good enough!
